WHAT THIS IS
What happens when a James Bond-like spy ends up in rehab to deal with his alcoholism, gambling, womanizing and anger issues?
THE SPY WHO WENT INTO REHAB, that's what happens.
From November, 2024 thru September 2024, the played to sold out houses and uproarious laughter. The show touched everyone, from James Bond fans, to people in recovery, to those who love seeing stories of redemption.
Director Cyndy Fujikawa and I realized that the play's absurdist humor and exploration of toxic masculinity would be perfect for the legendary Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. A month long celebration of comedy, drama, theater and performances of all kinds, the Fringe has launched numerous projects, including most recently, Fleabag, Six and Baby Reindeer.
WHAT WE NEED
Very simple, we need MONEY. We have to raise $50,000.00 to produce the play for one month at the legendary Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
This amount includes:
- Rental for the performance space at the Pleasance Dome.
- Crew for the running of the performance.
- Marketing to get posters and press out there during the festival.
- Sourcing local props and scenery.
- Airfare and lodging for the company.
- Salary for everyone involved.
WHAT YOU GET
- Besides being part of the production of a groundbreaking and hilarious comedy, your donations will entitle you to different levels of exciting perks.
- Top donors will earn a percentage stake in the profits of the show, either at the Fringe festival, or any subsequent production.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
- Shows like The Spy Who Went Into Rehab might have challenges to get produced in more conventional means, but the success at the Fringe can provide the type of introduction to the New York theater world in ways an ordinary production route ever could.
