Hey, what's the pilules buzz about?!
"What is your weight?" - 48... "Hmm, what do you think, will you bear a triple dose?"
These
were the last words I heard from my doctor after six months of fruitless
efforts to beat my infection. I left and never went back. I knew there must be
other ways and after I had enough of the pointless pill poisoning, I found
them.
Later
I started writing articles for a magazine and I had the chance to gather a lot
more absurd but real stories about pills and hospitals. I suppose that's how I
came with the idea for a cult of pills and this particular film project:
The plot
The hospital hall is crowded with people: young, old, depressed, disabled, mothers and children, people in business suits, priests of all kind, as well as doctors. They all are waiting on a queue to reach a small pill stand. A nurse is giving away packages full of pills. On top the stand there's a text:
"3 DAYS PROMO: Pilula No.5 extends life for free/ prevails over all maladies/0.99 only"
Nearby a children choir is conducted by a nervous old lady and next to them young men are putting posters on the walls, announcing the 3-days celebrationof the new pilules.
Among the crowd a woman around her 40s Dr Julia Poppy makes her way through to the elevator. She looks serious and the only unhappy person in the hall. She's relieved when she finally gets to the empty space in front of the elevator. The crowd is left behind. She gets in and pushes the button for her floor. The doors open. Dr. Poppy makes a step out and hits a carton wall - her way is blocked with pill boxes.
This
is just a part of the opening scene of the film. So, what you can expect is a funny,
exaggerated and absurd reality. A bit dark and grotesque but mostly funny
and sharp. I believe that laughter will make you aware if by any chance you're
a part of the cult of the pills. You know - when one thing is conscious it's
easier to control it and change it.
