- Immitating a baby's muscle system.
- Gets more milk.
- Quiet (sounds like a gurgling cat).
- Adjustable speed and power.
- Feels nice on the breast.
The story:
My name is Masha Waldberg and I am a breastfeeding mother. The idea for Annabella started two months after Ania was born. Annabella is the full name of Ania. The name choosing for the pump was easy.
I was pumping my milk to keep in the bottle for later, so that I could get some sleep while my husband (Senia) was feeding Ania.
But... all the breast pumps I used were loud and useless. I don't have to tell you the story because almost every mother felt it herself.
After a very long search I found out that all the pumps have the same structure and working method. Basically, they all do the same mistake.
Here is a shocking information: most of them are based on a 1864 patent for milk pumping machines, for cows. Yes! We found it in the patent search!
How is this possible that no solution was found yet?!
Maybe because most of the pumps were designed by men, maybe because noone was creative enough. Maybe because it wasn't easy.
There was no pump on the market which could do this (this is the older version):
I run a small business: Education center where we teach learning methods and get students ready for the SAT test and final exams.
Running a business while breastfeeding is not easy. I counted on the expensive milk pumps to help me out, but it turned out that all of them showed almost the same low results. I always tell my students not to compromise and get the best results. Why shouldn't I expect the same from something like a breast pump?
Especially when it concerns my baby.
When Senia heard about the problem, he called the most brilliant engineer he knew - Ron Edelman. Ron's wife was also breastfeeding and he knew the problem very well. Ron's job was solving difficult engineering problems for companies, and we knew him as the guy who can find a solution to any problem.
He also worked with the famous Dan Ariely (you can google him).
We made him a full partner at Anabella, so that he will be on our team, dedicated to the project!

After a few months, we managed to bring 3 more engineers, including the top electronics engineer from Intel in Israel. The goal we had was not an easy one to reach, but our technological team became a real "A - team".
The only thing which was missing, was a CEO. After we had our first prototype we started looking for one and found Uri Yaffe. He liked the project and joined the team.
I don't compromise on quality, so we decided to make the pump do exactly what I wanted it to do. I was in charge of the quality and Ron worked with the engineers and Uri on the development process.
I wanted to make sure that when my next child is born, I will have an Annabella with me to help. Both of them :)

You can find us on Facebook as well.
Why we need your pledge!
To make the Anabella a reality and to give you the best product. We are close to the finish line of the development, and we even raised a serious investor to help us. We consulted with companies like Babysense and other baby related companies who help us with planning our way.
We would love to have your support so that we can:
You can also help us by sharing this project!
If you have friends who are:
- breastfeeding mothers
- soon to be mothers
- access to big groups of mothers
- relevant bloggers who can test the pump
We would love you to share our project!
About testing groups: we promised the backers of our campaign on Indiegogo that you will have the first choice to be in the test group if you like. The testing pumps we can send will be the ones made in the factories and not in the laboratory, because of the materials. R&D materials and production materials are different.
You can help us make that dream come true!

Extra editing:
One important note: the Anabella can't pump 100% of the milk currently in the breasts (even a baby can't do that). It can pump all the milk which is available to reach. Also, the initial tests show that we may be able to create more milk in the breasts because of the mechanism.
FDA and EMA:
The process will require FDA approval to make sure we get it once we are ready to market. Same as the European EMA (European marketing authorization). It is the most simple version of FDA - 5-10K. So it is not a problem.
If we don't get the FDA in the first application, we will apply again. We are working with a company specializing in receiving FDA approvals for mdeical devices. So far Anabella shouldn't have any problems.
How quiet our pump really is?
