Short Summary
For Undertakers Paul Jeffries and Hilary Todd, running their business in the healthiest village in Britain is a problem. With the populations life expectancy at a record-breaking high, they have to take some drastic measures in order to keep their struggling business afloat. Provoked by their rivals from the Life Insurance company, the Undertakers take their shovels and begin to actively push the community towards the bright white light.
The Undertakers is a ten minute Short Comedy which takes a light-hearted approach towards economic struggles and murder. As a final year TV Production student this film is a culmination of my experience making comedy pieces from the last 3 years. I have been developing this as a project for about a year and I cannot think of a better way to bring the idea to life than with a crew of hard working and talented colleagues and who just so happened to my friends (I only befriended them because they are that good.) I have so much faith in this project and I know that it would be a great experience for anyone involved. I would really appreciate any help and kind donations in order to bring this vision to the screen.
Whether it comes in the form of a pat on the back, a small donation to the film or spreading the word on social media, any contribution will be greatly appreciated. I'd love for you to get involved as well. If you know any great actors, a perfect location or simply want to help out on the day please contact theundertakersfilm@gmail.com. I'd be so grateful for any donations or support because you know what they say: team work is essential - it allows you to blame someone else!
What We Need & What You Get
Budget Breakdown
We are aiming to raise at least £750 to fund the production, it sounds like a lot but this is all part of creating a project with the highest possible production values. If we are unable to reach the target, we will still make the film, but I'll have to play all four characters and I don't look very good in a suit! However if we exceed the target we will put the money towards better equipment, props and locations and hopefully create a film that transcends any limitations with the current budget. We have broken down the cost of the proposed budget which you can see below:
Actors: £440
We are always told to spend our money on screen and as a film so dependent on the comedic performance of the lead actors, the best ones don't come cheap. Not only will this provide the greatest talent with an opportunity to be a part of this film, but we hope they will do the parts justice and create a film to be proud of.
Accommodation and Travel: £150
The script required a location which is rather picturesque but also incredibly dull and boring and full of the elderly generation...that's when we remembered that we are based in Dorset - a location that fits that brief perfectly. Fortunately this means travelling expenses can be kept to a minimum for the shoot, however providing accommodation for cast over the four days can be costly.
Props and Location: £100
This is arguably the department that will take the film from a generic student film to a professional production with the help of costume, make up, props and set design. The attention to detail is imperative.
Catering: £50
To keep motivation and energy high on set, we need to make sure our cast and crew are well fed and watered throughout the four days of shooting.
