“Simplicity in design isn’t just about removing the visually superfluous elements. It’s about creating a product to last. One that doesn’t need to ebb and flow with ever-changing trends or fashions. Simplicity in design, can make a product timeless.”
ventura has dedicated itself to this philosophy over the last three decades and so there is no better way to celebrate the truthfulness of this notion than by working directly with our supporters to reintroduce the iconic v-matic EGO, designed by Hannes Wettstein in 1994.

25 years ago Hannes Wettstein (a young Zurich designer at the time) put forward a unique proposal to ventura...
The aesthetic appearance of the proposed watch would be defined by the functional, technical and material characteristics. The properties of the pure titanium would determine the form. The dial layout should be functional, reduced to its essential elements. The only item to be left undetermined was the watch’s price; the aim was to produce a watch from the best materials, free from any cost pressures.
This unconventional approach allowed Hannes to create a truly honest watch;
The v-matic EGO.

Housed within the matte titanium body is a beautifully decorated ETA 2892-A2 with a custom ventura rotor. This Swiss automatic movement features 21 jewels and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The supply of ETA 2892-A2 movements is very restricted, and only a select pool of trusted manufacturing partners are given access to this movement. It is not uncommon to find this movement powering luxury watches that retail from £3,000 / €3,350 / $3,750 and above.

3 years ago, Stephan Hürlemann, a close friend and colleague of Hannes Wettstein, set out to reconstruct the revered v-matic EGO. For Stephan it was a labour of love, which saw him spend numerous hours at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich where the ventura archives are located. His meticulous approach saw the reconstruction of every component of the watch, abiding to the same high quality standards that Wettstein and ventura followed all those years ago.

Rather than working with distribution partners, we are focusing on a modern, direct-to-consumer approach. Not only has this new strategy enabled a revised price calculation that will benefit you, the final consumer, but it also allows for the most direct and approachable system between us as the brand and you as our customers.
By working with you directly, we’ll be able to gain invaluable feedback and optimise future product development. Launching via crowdfunding allows us to connect directly with those who can help to shape the future of the brand.

Risks and challenges
We may be new to crowdfunding, but we have been designing, developing and manufacturing watches for over 3 decades. Our vast experience has enabled us to build strong, trusting relationships with our supplier base.
Over the last 3 years we have developed countless samples to ensure our strict quality standards can be met during a full-scale production run. To make sure lead-times are kept to a minimum, we have already placed limited order quantities on key components. This means our earliest backers can expect delivery just weeks after our campaign ends.
As an established brand, with a reputation for upholding only the highest of quality standards, we hope to offer some peace of mind when it comes to fulfilment that some other Indegogo / Kickstarter -born brands may not be able to adhere to.
By launching the ventura v-matic EGO via crowdfunding, we are able to completely re-write the rules when it comes to pricing. Not only does this direct-to-consumer model allow us to sell our watches at an incredibly competitive price-point, it also allows us to connect directly with those who can help to shape the future of the brand.
