A waft from the loft
Perhaps you've seen Daniel and Jo, the two talented musician who appear as Wafts from the Loft on YouTube, reviewing fragrances from the extraordinary setting of the organ loft in a historical church in the City of London. But did you ever wonder what it smelled like?
As the artisan perfumer at 4160Tuesdays, I've had the privilege of filming there with them, and they've visited our studio to smell perfumery materials and to sniff wafts from our fragrances. Last time I visited the organ loft we explored the entire church, smelling the incense collection, sniffing the centuries old stone and wood, and inhaling the wafts from the organ loft after a filming session, and we started to plot a fragrance.
- We're making it, The Waft From The Loft, by 4160Tuesdays, and we'd love it if you'd back us.
- If you know the Wafts you'll probably expect a rich amber fragrance, and you would be right, but with woods, tradition, incense, passion and humour mixed in.
- With our crowdfunding projects (and you can see what we've done in the past by looking at our Indigogo history) we always offer a generous discount for everyone who takes the plunge and commits before the fragrance is finished.
- We shall not be stinting with the materials; there are investments to be made, but with the Wafts as creative directors and 4160Tuesdays' track record, I hope you'll feel it's worth a go.
What's the score?
A quick where, when, how, what and who?
- Our project is based in London, where we'll be making the fragrance from start to bottling and dispatch. 4160Tuesdays' workshop is in Hammersmith, and if you'd like to drop in to smell our progress, you'll be welcome.
- We've already started! I expect us to be working on it for a further few weeks, then once we have finalised the formula, we'll be investing in materials to make up the first batch. We expect to deliver the fragrance by August 2020 because these things must not be rushed. Once we have the formula, we still have to carry out stability tests and have its Cosmetics Products Safety Report produced, so it's ready to be sold.
- Basically, having explored the stunning aromas which make up the loft's unique ambiance, my job is to create a blend which matches the Wafts' olfactory hopes and dreams. The Wafts' role is to give their enthusiastic and constructively critical opinions until we get it just right.
- Our fragrance will be for all humans, it will be inclusive, warm and welcoming. We'll update you as it forms.
- Do look us up in our normal habitats, Wafts in the Loft on YouTube and 4160Tuesdays.com at our website.
What happens to your cash?
If you join in during the first stage campaign, we know you're taking a flyer. For putting your trust in us to make something you'll like, and for spending your hard earned cash before you've even had a whiff of the fragrance, you have 45 days to back us at our bargain rates.
Indiegogo keeps your investment until the end of the campaign, and you can change your mind before then and get it back. After that there's a time when you trust us with your money, we spend it on the materials we need, start making up batch one, wait, and wait a little longer, then send out all the bottles.
- 4160Tuesdays Ltd has been in business for eight years, making perfume and dispatching it around the world.
- As long as nothing devastating happens to us between now and dispatch day, your fragrance with be with you later in 2020.
- At the end of the campaign - when our fragrance formula is complete - we shall extend it; at this point the discounts vanish into thin air, as we'll have samples to test.
Please tell your fragrant friends
4160Tuesdays is really very small indeed and it's likely that none of your friends have ever heard of us. If you'd like our project to be a success - and don't mind them smelling as good as you do - please do tell them all about us.
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will all do nicely. Thanks for that. but no at all pressure if it's not your thing.
