The Film

They were men too  is a story about a young army infantryman who witnesses the ruthlessness of Vietnam firsthand, and now, living his last days, has to tell his grandson his story of discovering humanity in unlikeliest form. The Enemy.

Our Inspiration

Both of the producers have had many family members serve in the United States armed forces, from sailors to paratroopers, from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

Why we would like to bring this film to life

We want this idea to be a reality, and we can with your help!  Our idea is to showcase the mental part of war that nobody except for veterans can attest to. We would like to make this film as historically accurate as we can, and although we wont be filming on location in Vietnam (it is off limits from what we've heard), we have a location that looks almost identical to Ia Drang valley!

The historical part

The Battle of Ia Drang was the first major battle between the United States Army and the People's Army of Vietnam, also referred to as the North Vietnamese Army, and was part of the Pleiku Campaign conducted early in the Vietnam War. We want this to be as close to the real thing as we can get. We've watch films, documentary's, and interviews with soldiers in the battle so we can get the highest level of accuracy!

What We Need

We are hoping to raise $1700 for camera equipment, costumes, props, sound, and editing systems.

Any contribution would help us so much!

As you can see this is a family based film, this is because it is easier for finding a cast, and because everybody can work comfortably together.

Film Thesis

When James' grandson triggers memories of the past, James recounts the story of his escape from behind enemy lines during the battle of Ia drang, and who he ran into on the way...

Even if you cant contribute you could:
