3/9/12 UPDATE: We've passed our initial goal! Heartfelt thanks to everyone! (Look at the funders list to see the best people in the world.)
Since there's time left, we wanted to remind you that any additional donations will go straight to Phase 2 of our Secret Plan for World Domination: making the next CD. The songs are ready, the studio and engineer are standing by, and we can start as soon as there's a little more money in the kitty. So don't be afraid to donate, even though we've reached the initial goal. Every little bit helps. Thank you!
Hi! It’s your pals from ThorNton Creek.
If you're meeting us for the first time, we play our own mix of Americana music some people call "electric front porch swing". You can read all about us here.
We have a plan, and we'd like you to be a part of it.
The Story:
Not too long ago, ThorNton Creek (Thornton Bowman, Mark Drake, Don Miller, and Steve Miller) made a CD called A Different Door and we think it's good. Other people – Victory Review, altCountryForum, Maverick Magazine UK, and even people we know – tell us it's good, which can’t be a bad sign. (You can hear free samples of A Different Door right here, or download free songs from our other CDs here.)
A few months ago at the Americana Music Association Conference in Nashville, Thornton met Bill Wence, a promoter with a strong background in promoting this type of music. Bill has taken an interest in ThorNton Creek and has some ideas about how we could get some more attention for the music.
We like his ideas and how he has helped other musicians. After a lot of discussion between the band and Bill, we've come up with a plan.
The Plan:
Bill thinks A Different Door is strong and worthy, and wants to work with us to promote it. Step one was to repackage A Different Door. We've done that. Now we need to give it to Bill – and pay him – to work his magic.
The goal is to increase the band’s visibility and name recognition by getting us onto the Americana radio charts. Radio play opens doors, different doors than we can open on our own here in Seattle. That's Bill's job: to get us played on the radio as much as possible around the US and abroad.
Bill's promotional campaigns are open-ended. As long as the music has traction, he'll be working it for us for a one-time fee. We strongly believe in the music, but we're musicians, not promoters. We need to hire a pro to do what he does well.
The Need:
Bill doesn't work for free, alas. The cost of a promotional campaign is $3,500. We need $2,000 more than what we already have.
Can you help us raise $2000 to make this happen?
For context, this is Phase One of a long-term strategy that you can read about here. We've got plans for 2012, yes we do, and we'd love for you to be a part of them.
Please be a part of this first step, raising $2000 to promote A Different Door to radio in the US and abroad.
