Support Scholarship program for Thailand Contact Improvisation Conference 2023
This campaign is raising funds to support those who wish to participate in Thailand Contact Improvisation Conference but because of their financial circumstances cannot afford to pay full price. It also supports emerging and professional artists and teachers of Contact Improvisation.
About the Conference:
The conference is a meeting point for practitioners of CI from Asia-based communities and beyond, a space for inquiry, artistic exchange, intense practice and collaboration.
It is an opportunity to connect with the practice and wider community, reshape and deepen shared understanding of Contact Improvisation by considering its history and development since its inception in 1972.
The program consists of two parts — Part 1, an intensive workshop with Ming-Shen Ku from Taiwan, assisted by Yu-Chien Cheng. Followed by Part 2, a 14-day Conference with teachers contributing from, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, UK, Russia, Turkey, Spain, Germany & Denmark. Formats include workshops, intensives, classes, laboratories, lectures and performances.
Why is it important for us to offer scholarships?
The conference is a non-commercial event, and not supported by a foundation or grant scheme. It is run by the team's initiative and resources, and by the sale of conference tickets. In Thailand there are very few public funding schemes in the arts sector.
We value inclusivity and do not want financial difficulties to prevent anyone from attending the programme. Therefore, it is extremely important for us to have the possibility of offering scholarships and supporting community development.
We aim to make alternative forms of dance and movement art education more accessible, inspiring, and supportive.
Where will your support go?
100% of the money we receive will go towards funding the scholarships. The total of 205,000 THB / 5550 EUR will support a total of 18 scholarships - 8 for Part 1 of the program and 10 for Part 2.
How else can I support?
All forms of help are much appreciated. Even if you can’t support our vision financially, there are some other ways that you can help:
