TRIP Comix is a small, alternative publisher interested in visionary, psychedelic, poetic and artistic graphic novels. Our goal is to support and promote unparalleled work that might not otherwise be published because it's deemed too risky.

We are raising money to publish 4 amazing books. Currently, Stan and Marc, the founding publishers, finance these books out of their own pockets (which are not that deep!) With the money raised here, we aim to appropriately compensate the artists and print larger runs for wider distribution which finally, will allow us to meet the criteria for grants and grow as a publisher. Louis Rémillard has been active on the Quebec comics scene since the early eighties. He has spent 5 years researching and drawing this book, an amazing true tale from a history that we barely know. Probably the best graphic novel ever done on the subject of First Nations and how they lived.

Louis Rémillard dessine et publie de la bande dessinée au Québec depuis les années 80. Après 5 ans de recherches et de travail, il nous présente son plus beau récit. Probablement le meilleur roman graphique sur le thème des premières nations, révélant des aspects inédits de ces peuples qui résonnent encore aujourd'hui avec notre sensibilité contemporaine. Un livre exceptionnel!

New York, early nineties; drugs are becoming a big problem and all sorts of criminal activities are afflicting the city. Using the ensuing chaos as a cover, Joel Rifkin becomes the most prolific serial killer ever known to the city of New York. Within 4 years, he murdered seventeen prostitutes. Skip Jensen first discovered this story while looking into the singer of a punk group that he loved. He discovered  that Joel Rifkin shared the same musical interest. There began an investigation through the dark alleys of New York into the notorious life of Joel Rifkin.

Skip Jensen is a respected musician with four albums to his credit. His first graphic novel Lachine Beach chronicled his youth in Lachine, a suburb of Montreal, in the late seventies and early eighties. With a simple drawing style, Jensen tells affecting stories, writing like a professional journalist, masterfully mixing facts with emotions.

New York, début des années 1990. La drogue fait des ravages et des activités criminelles de toutes sortes affligent la Grosse Pomme. Profitant du chaos ambiant, Joel Rifkin devient le tueur le plus prolifique que cet état ait jamais connu. En l’espace de quatre ans, il assassine dix-sept femmes s’adonnant à la prostitution.

C’est en découvrant un lien entre le chanteur d’un groupe punk et le tueur en série que Skip Jensen en est venu à raconter l'histoire de Joel Rifkin. Suivez la fascinante enquête de l’auteur dans les rues sombres du New York de cette époque.

Lachine Beach son premier livre documentait, avec émotion et une grande justesse, son enfance ainsi que l'histoire de la ville de Lachine.

Winner of the Independent Bédélys award, in Québec in 2012, Traumstadtdenken 1 was also selected to be part of the prestigious Collection of Independent Comics at the Library of Congress, in Washington. Bottenberg received another Bédélys nomination, in 2015, for Circulus. In Traumstadtdenken 2, his usual mastery of the the black and white format will be intensified with the addition of psychedelic, colorful pages. Featuring his usual deft mix of comics and illustrations.

Rupert Bottenberg is a founding member of the Montreal comics scene and Co-Director of EN MASSE. His comics always showcase a striking mix of narratives and illustrations full of imagination.

Gagnant en 2012 du Bédélys Indépendant au Québec pour Traumstadtdenken 1.  Ce livre fut sélectionné en 2013 pour faire partie de la prestigieuse collection de BD indépendantes de la bibliothèque du Congrès à Washington. Bottenberg qui reçu une autre nomination au prix Bédélys en 2015 pour Circulus, revient en force avec un Traumstadtdenken 2 encore plus enchanteur et ludique, mélange de bandes dessinées et de dessins (et cette fois-ci, avec des pages en couleur!).

Rupert Bottenberg est un le co-directeur de EN MASSE. Il a été journaliste au MIRROR et est l'un des membres fondateurs  de la Montreal comic scene.

In AGALMA, his masterful, debut graphic novel, Stanley Wany explored the Anima, the feminine side of creation. For Sequences, he explores the flip side, the Animus; a graphic novel featuring men lost in a mythological forest.

Pushing the limits of the comics language, Wany chronicles the clash between the world of dreams and reality as the forces of life and death battle it out inside one man's mind.

Stanley Wany has a BA in comics and is the co-creator of Éditions TRIP.
AGALMA has been nominated for the 2016 Pigskin Peters Award.

Après AGALMA, Stanley Wany continue d’explorer les limites du langage narratif en replongeant dans l’inconscient collectif pour créer un récit au dessin exceptionnel où les personnages de Séquences chevauchent à la fois le monde réel et un univers mythologiques où vont s’affronter les forces de la mort et de la vie.

AGALMA est en nomination pour le 2016 Pigskin Peters Award.
