The project team has begun turning their prototype into the final product. Their ability to ship the products may be affected by product development or financial challenges.
Inspired by the natural beauty of The Netherlands, Lumbr specializes in designing and producing some of the most innovative products out of the finest woods. We’ve been crafting and perfecting the art of handmade wooden watches for some time, and now we’re incredibly proud to present the Troy watch. Handcrafted from oak shipwood, Troy is the first wooden watch to have a visible mechanical skeleton with automatic movement.
Inspired by the natural beauty of The Netherlands, Lumbr specializes in designing and producing some of the most innovative products out of the finest woods. We’ve been crafting and perfecting the art of handmade wooden watches for some time, and now we’re incredibly proud to present the Troy watch.
Why call it the Troy watch? Theo, co-owner of Lumbr, was inspired by the myth of Troy and set out to create a wooden product with a twist. Our wood-based watch features an unexpected look inside; it’s the first wooden watch on Kickstarter to possess a fully visible mechanical skeleton with automatic movement.
From the ship to your wrist, both Troy’s case and strap are made entirely of beautiful, solid Oak or Walnut shipwood. It’s bound to make a statement without causing any discomfort. While the wooden, modern design of the Troy watch will make waves with its style, it still remains hypoallergenic so that anyone can rock it.
Not only is the Troy watch beautiful, it’s also practical. The modern wood design of our premium timepiece can tough it out through rain, splashing and accidental submergence (it’s ok to become so attached to your Troy watch that you forget to take it off before jumping in the shower).
Our simplistic wooden design, combined with our modern specs, make this watch truly captivating. Its superluminous dials ensure you’re styled and timely, rain or shine and day or night.
The Troy watch is as durable as it is dynamic. Both the front and back of the watch are made with Sapphire glass, the second hardest material in the world behind diamonds. The use of this manufactured crystal makes your watch hard to scratch and built to last.
The only things that all of our watches will have in common will be the high-end Japanese Miyota mechanical calibre, stainless steel butterfly clasp and the one-year international warranty. Delicately and individually handcrafted, each Troy watch has its own unique grain and pattern so that no two are exactly alike.
That’s us, Theo and Bart. We’re two real Dutchmen with a passion for bold, practical and stylish design, and we make up Lumbr. The idea for Lumbr originated in the summer of 2013 when we invented the Beatblok, a wireless wooden speaker.
We started selling our handcrafted wooden products, and apparently the Netherlands had been waiting for this crossover between authentic craftsmanship and contemporary design for quite some time. We acquired fans throughout the entire country, and just like that, Lumbr was off to a brilliant start! In the meantime, both our collection and our team have expanded. We’ve gained fame outside the Dutch borders, as well, while our passion has stayed the same: create beautiful wooden products with a sturdy look, bold design and an honest price. So, thank you all for your support, and thanks for climbing aboard!
We want to say thank you for checking out our project and for helping us make Troy a success.
A stretch goal lies just beyond the horizon, and we know you can help us get there, so share your hearts out, and we’ll continue to do our part!
We know not everyone will be able to support us with a pledge, so even if you can’t give a dollar or buy a watch, if you love the project as much as we do, you can help us spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and anywhere else you can think of!
