Our Story
Hello world!
We are two mamas making a film about the experience of birth
in Australia today. We are trying to
understand how women navigate the journey of pregnancy and birth by following
the stories of women birthing in a range of settings with a midwife at their
side. We hear from the women themselves and from a variety of birth
professionals in an effort to inform and inspire women to optimise their
birthing potential. We explore the
continuum of trust in current birth culture and the polarisation of the
extremes.
The good news is that despite being self-funded and having 5
children between us, we have already achieved so much! We already have a fantastic collection of
birth footage and interviews that must be watched by anyone who is thinking about
having a child. What we need now is a
top-notch, kick-arse editor to come along and help us put it all together so we
can get it out there!
So contribute to our campaign so that we can hire the best
editor possible! Contribute as little or
as much as you can afford and spread the word far and wide.
The Impact
The impact of this film cannot be underestimated. The birth of a baby is undeniably momentous life-changing event for the child that is born, the mother and everyone surrounding them. This film is relevant to ALL birthing women and their families and the information and inspiration it documents changes birthing outcomes.
For Kimba and Chloe, the past four years have been spent doggedly pursuing this passion to inspire ordinary women, and to improve outcomes for mothers and babies everywhere. They have a huge amount of amazing footage, but with 5 children (almost 6!) to care for, they don't have the money or time to finish this on their own steam. If the money isn't raised, it could take another five years to find all the funds to finish the film
Chloe and Kimba are determined to do what it takes to complete this important film, but they need financial help...from YOU!
What We Need & What You Get
$10,000 will allow us to get a really professional and top-notch editor to pull all the footage together and get us close to finishing a feature-length documentary we will show at festivals, release on DVD. We don't want to access other types of funding that might force us to skew the film content to meet grant requirements, so this is our only option.
If we make more than 10K, we would be able to film further material with an Australia-wide focus, pay for top-grade sound editing and film grading and release it more widely mid 2013.
If we were able to make 20K, we'd be able to film all the material we want, and as well as the grading listed above, we'd be able to finish the film this year!
Without a minimum of 10K, we'll use whatever funds we have to get a better trailer, and to do a very rough cut of the film. We'll keep going, but it will take us a lot longer and more fundraising attempts to finish the film.
Other Ways You Can Help

You can share via facebook, direct people to youtube or here. If you think someone might care about this, please send it on and help us help women everywhere!
