Meaghan and Ray are wannabe social media whores. Materialistic, but lacking materials, the duo spends their time working coat check at a dingy club while taking selfies in strangers’ clothes. At home, the girls obsessively stalk Instagram celebrities and drink wine through a straw.
One night, the girls attend a hip party laden with digital socialites. When they run into China Bling, their high school acquaintance turned Insta-icon, their insatiable thirst for internet stardom swells. Yet, as the camera phones flash and the party drugs kick in, Meaghan and Ray suck themselves into a shallow world that is anything but glamorous.
Social media envy takes a toll on our female leads, who are so lost in their online personas that they struggle with reality. They quantify their self-worth with “likes” and “followers." Instead of working on their inner selves, they focus on appearing fulfilled, happy, and healthy for their digital audience.
This film is for anyone who can’t eat their food til their friend Snapchats it; or for anyone who’s begrudgingly stalked an old acquaintance on Facebook; or for anyone who’s longed for the life of an online stranger.
As a comedy, we implore our audience to laugh at the absurdity this global obsession has become. Yet, we also hope to shed light on the isolation and insecurity our social media lives may cause.
That being said, feel free to stalk, like, and follow our film's and actor's social media platforms in the links below!
