Ultima Comics Has Arrived!
Hi folks! My name is Joshua Waldrop and I am the Owner/Editor-In-Chief of Ultima Comics. Ultima Comics has been a long time coming. Conceived in early 2020 (just before you-know-what), and officially launched at the San Diego Special Edition Con 2021, Ultima Comics has been moving steadily, one major milestone at a time, to get to this point.
We wanted to make the comics we wanted to read. We wanted to help independent comic creators who at one time had no answer for the gatekeepers of the industry realize that the field is wide open and there is a space for them, and an audience that wants to read their work and support their dreams. We wanted to put the Creators, the Art, and the Story first, while also building a method of distribution and promotion that could help comic creators connect directly with their most loyal readers.
And we're doing exactly that.
In collaboration with long time independent industry pros and uber-creatives with something to say, Ultima Comics is proud to present for your consideration, our first four comic publications: The Massacre Twins, JAUNDICE, Meat Farm, and Space Goblins.

The Massacre Twins - A post apocalyptic space romp that sees our twin heroines, V and D, alongside their double-headed bunny rabbit No-No, prowling the badlands fighting the lawless at the behest of their mysterious overseer Alex, thwarting ne'er-do-wells the only way they know how: with swift and blinding violence. (...and tacos.) Influenced by Batman '66, classic 70's kung-fu theater, Big Trouble In Little China, and a sprinkle of Charlie's Angels, The Massacre Twins is pure, classic, cartoonish fun!

JAUNDICE - A dramedy turned punk rock space opera that sees our misanthropic failed punk rock frontman turned alcoholic elementary school music teacher, John Diss, who, at the urging of a close school colleague strikes out to perform at the town's privately funded citizen rocket ship launch in order to win enough prize money to show his daughter, Mandy, a fun time during her Spring Break, only to have a cosmic occurrence change him fundamentally propelling him to navigate intergalactic forces while discovering his true self, three chords at a time.

Meat Farm - Something doesn't smell right in the small meat packing town of Ribtip when Detective Mitch Rasmussen answers the call of a distraught mother who's son disappeared a year ago in what appears to have become an epidemic. A classic 70's/80's style horror in the vein of the thrillers we all grew up on, no matter what generation you're from.

Space Goblins - An interdimensional buddy cop space farce that sees the seemingly hapless Gib & Gob, excommunicated space force bounty hunters, delivering their own feckless brand of "justice" while attempting to clear their names in hopes of being accepted back into the corp. Grotesque grit meets dry, European sensibilities in this comic book spinoff of the cult classic underground animated short film of the same name.
The creative team at Ultima Comics for these Founding Four books features a blend of long time independent industry veterans and up-and-coming talents looking to showcase their incredible talent to the world. In some cases like The Massacre Twins and Meat Farm, these stories have been shelved in production hell for over a decade, awaiting their chance to reach the readership that has unknowingly awaited them for equally as long.
We need your help to bring these first four titles to print, to put some well-earned compensation into the pockets of their hard working artists, and to get them distributed into as many hands as possible.
Risks & Challenges
Here's the best news: the books are basically already done.
Just this passed July we brought a small batch of complete test press copies to San Diego Comic-Con of The Massacre Twins and JAUNDICE, both containing 34 pages of story with no filler, and to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic and excited response! Meat Farm is currently being lettered by Image/Shadowline stalwart Todd Tochioka, and the script is finished and art underway by Space Goblins creator Ams Overton of Megacity Media.
There is exactly zero risk that these books won't get finished. We did it this way on purpose: as an independent upstart publisher, we know and have seen the countless times a company has came and went with backers left holding the bag while the campaigner just made off with the bag. We paid upfront to make sure our premiere titles were 100% complete to show y'all that we mean business! You can support us with your pledge knowing that two of the four are finished and ready for a large first printing run and the other two are near completion. We want you to feel great about supporting Ultima Comics, because we're fans just like you, and we treat our fans the way we would want to be treated: with respect, trust, and loyalty.
