A Concert/Play about Military Drones!?! Really?
Paul, Justin and New Morse Code meet in grad school at Yale and start talking about how to take music out of the recital hall and do something more theatrical.
Drone strikes are in the news.
Recruits fresh out of high school are at the controls - women in increasing numbers.
We start to
imagine a play... a concert... a concert-slash-play...
Two years and much work later, Unblinking Eye is about to be born.
Whoa. What's it like?
Unblinking Eye is about a teen woman who enlists in the Air Force
and works as a drone operator. She struggles with the painful realities of
combat, all while living at home with her mom.
A trio plays as she tells us all about, acting as a counterpoint to the text
and vice versa, so there’s a
heightened level of listening.
Sounds Awesome! What's Next?
The script and score are poised for
- reading in April
- a production in NYC in the fall
- a film adaptation
- an eventual production near you.
ALL of this is possible when you join us!
What We Need & What You Get
We need $ 10,000 to cover three specific things in April:
These are
all already planned in April, so we can share our idea with potential producers.
PERKS INCLUDE!!!
-
Tickets to a reading in NYC!
-
Recordings of the music!
- Private concerts!!
- so much more!!
Our Big Break!
Unblinking Eye marks a huge turning point in our lives.
- Paul's first evening-length work that he eventually
wants to release as an album.
- Justin's first professional production in New
York City. Details about that soon.
- Everyone's first international tour! We designed this show to be light in elements so we can bring it to you. Your university, your concert hall, your theater, in the
US, in Europe.
- Our big response to the current wars, fought by our peers. These wars are the biggest issue of our generation and so few talk about it. So we are partnering with Iraq war veterans groups to spread awareness of PTS and combat trauma.
- Not to mention the FILM ADAPTATION with filmmaker Horacio Marquinez....
An album, a New York premier, a tour, a film... WOW!!Your support now helps us get it there.
You Sure You Can Pull This Off?
It's an ambitious agenda for sure, but we've been working on this show for TWO YEARS - writing, researching, traveling to air force bases, and talking with veterans. We have all produced and toured our own works professionally. We are ready!
