My name is Abigail Dickinson and I am an award-winning documentarian, with a focus on stories that would otherwise go untold. I am an alum of the Savannah College of Art and Design where I spent 4 years honing in on my passion for cinematography and non-fiction storytelling. I am currently in the pre-production phases for my next passion project and couldn't be more excited! This story resonates with me deeply and when I first heard about it, I knew I wanted to be the one to tell it.
Film has the power to change people. With your help and contribution, I am able to do so. Am I proclaiming I want to change your life? Maybe. A little bold of me? Maybe. But, as Luke Combs so elegantly puts it, “If I wasn't doin’ this, I’d still be doin’ this”.
About The Film
In 1992, Jimmy and his wife decided to break their breakfast routine by inviting a few homeless individuals beneath the Texas Interstate 35 Bridge to share their meal. This simple act of kindness unexpectedly sparked the formation of a vibrant community. What began as a casual conversation soon evolved into weekly gatherings for Bible study, all taking place under the bridge. As the months passed, the group expanded to include more homeless individuals, low-income families, and others searching for a church where they felt truly at home.
Praising God beneath the bridge grew into something profoundly meaningful. Recognizing the deepening impact of their gatherings, they embraced a more organized approach, leading to the establishment of Church Under the Bridge (CUB).
CUB emerged as a natural progression from Jimmy’s involvement with Mission Waco, where he played a key role in creating accessible grocery options, job training programs, alcohol and drug rehabilitation services, a homeless shelter, and a community center for the underprivileged.
Today, the community continues to gather under the bridge, transforming lives and bringing hope to hundreds, fostering a spirit of salvation and belonging.

Artistic approach: The majority of the documentary will be observational. There will be aspects of more poetic and experimental shots regarding b-roll that will intertwine with the interviews. I want this documentary to feel purposeful and methodical, that every choice was made for a reason. It will feel structured but have a fluidity to it as well. I would like for the greatness of God to come through but in a subtle way.
Distribution: The goal is to enter this documentary into film festivals to spread the word regarding CUB, as well as, reach an audience of younger people going through the trial and tribulations with their faith. After the festival circuit, I will be trying to find a home for it on a streaming platform.
What We Need & What You Get
All of the funding raised will go towards crew, equipment, accommodations, and post production. As much as I wish I could create my art simply for my love of the craft, I no longer have the luxury of being a "starving artist" in college. A step towards my goal of making this my career is understanding I can't do this without supporters such as yourself. You can have the peace of mind that I don't take any contribution for granted and I will 100% put it towards making this film as impactful and enriching as I can.

The Impact
With every change that occurs, a constant is always community. I couldn't think of a better community to get behind than that of the Church Under The Bridge. Time and time again faith has been the constant in peoples' lives bringing them hope, peace, understanding, and a sense of fellowship. Contributing to my film brings you into the community in your own unique way.
