Film Synopsis
**This is a live-action film, we just couldn't afford to pay actors for this promo.**
This raunchy heist comedy tells a tale of two southern best friends, Jay Hugh and Skeeter, both of whom are not very bright. When Jay Hugh’s fiancée needs money for an embarrassing tattoo removal, he plots to steal a valuable prized possession from Skeeter. Unfortunately, Jay Hugh is not the smoothest criminal in the world. So, he must resort to using Skeeter’s fear of alien life against him.
The Impact of Your Help
Due to the specific “red neck” atmosphere that is essential to our film, we will be using a large portion of this funding for production design and set dressing. Additionally, as the story has four major settings (a tattoo parlor, a pawn shop, and two houses/trailers), we will be using your donations for acquiring and locking these locations. The rest of the funding will be put towards on-set craft services and post-production publicity and film festivals.
Our team is very passionate about filmmaking and we are fully-invested in making this project into a film that everyone can be proud of. Your support is greatly appreciated, as we are truly unable to produce our film in its greatest quality without your donations. Thank you in advance for your generosity and for your help in spreading the word about our campaign.
Our Team
Director|| Tanner Methven
Tanner Methven is a jack of all trades and a master of more. He's primarily a director of comedies with the chops and experience to direct a short film of this caliber. He likes long walks on the beach and making the best damn movie he can. Some might call him a perfectionist, and they would be correct, which is why he'll turn
Unintelligent Life into something special.
Producer|| Meredith A Bryant
Meredith Bryant is a senior in the film studies department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has professional experience on-set and in the various areas of pre-production through her past internship with GreyHawk Films. This short film, Unintelligent Life, is her third project as a producer. She is passionate about this project and is excited to be apart of its realization on-screen.
Director of Photography|| Jonathan Troy Hunt
Jonathan Troy Hunt has spent his past years honing his craft. Though this may be his first time as a DP, Troy is not a newcomer to working alongside a camera. Going above the student level, Troy has put work into multiple feature films, music videos, and indie shorts, and to date has spent more than 400 hours outside of the classroom working in film. Although he loves the camera, his true passion lies in working with light. A senior at UNCW, Troy hopes to incorporate all of the knowledge he has gained in lighting and cinematography to give a serious edge to an otherwise comical tale.
Production Designer|| Hannah Suggs
Hannah Suggs is an Award Winning Costume builder and Designer. Experienced in both casual/practical make-up and special effects make-up. She has been a Prop Designer and Builder for multiple years, and is comfortable with multiple mediums (including foam smithing, gun replication, sewing, and armor) as well as a self taught painter. She looks forward to this project as it has lots of creative potential with its outlandish characters and quirky locations.
Sound Mixer|| Michael Cutts
Michael Cutts has worked on sound mixing and design for a variety of short films including Larceny Economics and Message Me. However, the project he is most proud of is replacing all of the sound effects in the record toss scene from Shaun of the Dead with his own. If you need your dialogue recorded at a nice -12 DBs, Michael’s your guy.
