Short Summary
We are a women-led team of young, independent filmmakers, seeking to tell the story of the societal pressures and double standards women have been bombarded with their entire lives.
Our script is titled "V-Card." In this world, teenagers are issued tangible v-cards to represent their virginity status. Our goal is to make this a 10 minute, comedic short film with a timeless aesthetic.
It follows the story of Amy and James, who decide to lose their virginities to each other. While James is delighted to ditch his card and gain the experience, Amy struggles with the implications of what she has lost.
The story portrays a budding relationship, but predominantly highlights Amy’s self-acceptance and understanding that no matter what society has been indoctrinating her entire life, losing her v-card doesn’t mean she’s lost her value.
Who are we!
Our team met in college and graduated from film school in 2020 and 2021. Something that collectively shaped our experience, as it did for many, was the pandemic, which prohibited us from creating our capstone films. Although we had to scrap our original ideas and tackle our projects remotely, we adapted and continued to create. But this experience left us yearning to create an ambitious project, something that allowed our potential to flourish. That’s what this project is.

Funding!
Finally, funding will go to locations, which are a bowling alley and an Airbnb. Props, to ensure the retro aesthetic we are looking for. Renting equipment for the set. Food for cast and crew and any sort of leftover expense of applying to festivals and licensing.
