My Story
I have been accepted on to the Volunteer Eco Students Abroad Program and will be traveling to Fiji in the summer of 2011. In order to participate in the program and complete essential volunteer work in a Fijian village, I am seeking sponsorship.
The Impact
In Fiji, I will work with VESA in conjunction with the villagers and the village chief in addressing the major issues the village faces. These include a lack of fresh running water, dilapidated schools, non-sustainable farming and generally poor infrastructure. Your donation will help to facilitate the means for implementing these projects and repairs.
In Fiji, VESA works closely in conjunction with the CSN (Community Support Network) The CSN are a local NGO whom also work with organizations such as UNICEF and the European Union in various environmental and community projects.
What I Need
By sponsoring me, your funds will help to cover the costs involved in participating in the program (approximately $5000). These costs include hiring local skilled tradespeople to supervise and assist in the building projects, building materials and donations to local organizations. Every volunteer will complete a minimum of 40 hours of hands on community based volunteer work.
Donations of any amount are appreciated. With your donation, you will be assisting me and the VESA program in improving the lives of the families in the Fijian village where I will be volunteering. Together we will make a big difference!
Your involvement is greatly appreciated, and every little bit counts!
