Game overview
In the game, players pick either a group of humans or group of zombies to play with, and uses the deck that each side has. The goal of the game is to gain loot points from looting the city, and killing other characters. One with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Event cards:
The game uses 5 decks:
-
Events deck for locations and surprise effects
- Humans deck for human players to draw new characters
- Zombies deck for zombie players to draw new characters
- Items deck for human players to use
- Ill Fortune for zombie players to use.
Human and Zombie cards:
Both Items and Ill Fortune decks have 3 different types of cards:
- Offensive cards
- Defensive cards
- Effect cards.
Humans use all kinds of item cards, from offensive cards like shotgun and scissors, to defensive cards like riot shields and bar stools. Sometimes effect cards like smoke grenade might save your group. Item deck is balanced between all sorts of cards to give you some tactical
Zombies on the other hand use cinematic effects, from zombies being Angry, On Fire, Mutated and so on. Zombie players have mostly effect cards, meaning that zombie players can make the game go awfully funky and strange, with cards like Divine Intervention, Kill of the Week, Out of Ammo and Unstoppable force.

Our main goal is 11,000 euros, which goes into funding the production costs of the game. With the minimum amount funded, we can work decent hours with the game, and deliver it approximately May 2015. Delivery may vary with the production time. You will also get the game cheaper now than from retail later!
As this is our first project, it is very important to us to make the project successful. But due to our very limited time and resources, we can only do so much. That is why we need your help to fund VS Zombies, and bring it to everyone to enjoy! We enjoy playing games, and we enjoy making games, and the best thing is to see everyone enjoy games we make.
*Update!* We have contacted a graphic illustrator to work with us, and part of the funds goes into making game look better. With this exciting new development, we can't wait to see how awesome the game will look like!
Please note, that due to Finnish Law, we cannot receive any funds without giving anything back, so please choose a perk.
We won't have many stretch goals, because all the game parts are in it already. We won't take anything out to add it later on. But with additional funds we can invest a lot more time working with the game, and make it better for you.
All additional funds after 20,000 euros will go into making VS Zombies a better quality game, and anything more we manage to create within the timelimit will be added into the game.
Risks & Challenges
The greatest risk we have making this game into reality is not getting funded. It can be prevented by you funding this campaign. But there are also other risks that you might also want to know:
- We have very limited resources ourselves to work on this game full time. Our main game designer Pekka is also creating all 3d based graphics by himself, so it takes time to complete all graphics. If the game gets funded, all additional funds helps us to work more on the game. If the first stretch goal is reached, we can work full-time on this game.
- We are negotiating with different companies about manufacturing the game, and we are not going to settle for quality we would not like as gamers ourselves. We got very good recommendations from other Finnish game producers, so we are following their advice.
- Another risk we see, is not getting a lot of attention. Like previously mentioned about our limited resources, we cannot afford any advertising. We are trying to spread the word here in Finland by going from place to place, promoting our game wherever we can. But we would appreciate it a lot, if anyone viewing this campaign would share it in social media, tell a friend and spread the word.
