About W.I.S.E. Education
My name is Catherine Okafor and I'm the founder and director of W.I.S.E (Women Inspiring Success & Empowering) Girls, a female youth leadership development community program. I started the program while a junior in college in 2012. Our program received national attention and sponsorship from former President Bill Clinton's organization, Clinton Global Initative University and The Huffington Post.
We are an organization with a mission to empower young women ages 13- 18 years old to reach their full potential as successful leaders. We do so by hosting a one day summit with workshops focused on; public speaking, self-care, small group social justice (gender equality, body image, women's health) dialogue and team work along with fun-filled activities.
With the success of the program I have decided to create an opportunity for the high school senior student participants to have a chance to win a scholarship to put towards her college education.

What We Need & What You Get
As a college student-led summit, our organization has limited funds to contribute to the college scholarship. This is where you all come in. We are asking that you support us as we try to lessen the costs of paying for college for a deserving high school senior.
The costs of college are steadily on the rise and the average costs for a full-time college student in today's society.
According to CollegeData.com, "In its most recent survey of college pricing, the College Board reports that a "moderate" college budget for an in-state public college for the 2013–2014 academic year averaged $22,826."
That price tag includes:
-
Tuition & Fees
-
Housing
-
Meal Plan
- Books/Other Supplies
- Transportation Expenses
Don't forget the $22, 826 isn't only for one year, that's for four years of college which is the time it takes to earn a bachelor's degree.
So, to earn a bachelor's degree (in four years) the total average cost is, $91,304.
We need your help more than ever before!!
