Short Summary
Howrah South Point (HSP) is an Indian organisation looking after kids in serious poverty. Many of these kids have also been born with congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV) or clubfeet. As part of trying to provide these kids a better future, HSP has invited a team to provide operations to kids who would otherwise not have this option. Over 2 weeks, the kids will be given the chance to walk normally, opening up a new future for them.
What We Need & What You Get
We're looking to provide as many funds as possible to support this trip and provide funds for the ongoing treatment of these children. Funds will be used to purchase the medicines, plaster, dressings and other medical equipment that will be used to look after the kids. And if there's any funds left over, we'll donate all of that to Howrah South Point to help support the ongoing care of these kids (and the other kids they look after).
What does your money provide:
$10 would be enough to provide the necessary plasters for one of the kids.
$20 would be enough to provide anaesthesia for one of the operations.
So, if you contribute even a small amount, you will be part of changing the life of one of these kids (with accompanying warm inner glow guaranteed).
And naturally, there's the opportunity to share in some of the perks to commemmorate your contribution.
$25 or more - this gives you a place on our website honour roll.
$50 or more - as well as the above, we'll send a photo from the trip, giving you a permanent memento of the smile you were a part of.
$100 or more - as well as both of these, we'll send on something handmade from Howrah South Point.
The Impact
These kids face some big hurdles in their lives, coming from a background where $2 a might be a day's pay. Hampered by the shape of their lower limbs, their mobility will always be limited. It can be harder to get an education, and then hard to find work. An operation can change that future.
This is the third time this team has been invited back. Over the last 2 trips, we've helped more than 60 kids walk into a different future. We've seen the smiles on their faces when they come back to visit, and heard their stories from school and the sporting fields.
Other Ways You Can Help
Not everyone can contribute with money, but if you feel moved to share this page with anyone you know (or just click on the Indiegogo sharing buttons), you'll have done your bit too.
