The Short
This film observes two traffic wardens, one hardened veteran and one disaffected young beginner. With them I want to explore the rationale behind a defence mechanism common to many a newcomer, machismo. After bumping into each other on their break in the municipal staff room, the two men find out they have unique and effectual methods for aggravating one another. A hostile Graham begins to shed his detachment and display paternal kindness, in an attempt to breach Jamie's hollow pretension.
The Aim.
Warden comes after a year of conceptualizing and script drafting and weeks of development.
Using our individual skills and flair we hope to bring this compelling and acutely human film to screens, large and small to share, to enjoy and to reflect on, but to achieve something as valuable and endearing as we intend to establish we will need your help.
I can't overstate the hard-work and dedication that the team and I have put towards realising this script already (and we haven't even began shooting yet!!), it's a project we've been consistently applying 70 hours a week too along with our savings and sure-to-be our grip on reality!
This is due to the faith and excitement we have for Warden. We hope you all want to share in the adventure!
Where's it Going?

Our projection is that the film will cost approximately £1000 to make with our ambitions.
As a team of fellow film students the core of our team, as I mentioned, is already hard at work for no fee. The crew expense here is to hire professional crew members in the departments of Sound and Art Direction as these operatives are not freely disposed to work on the project. These hired crew members will in every case be friends who work professionally in their field, doing us a favour for a heavily reduced day rate.
Film shoots warrant long tiring days so keeping cast and crew warm, fed and happy is paramount and our fundamental cost.
We also strive for everyone involved to arrive to set on those early, early starts comfortable and on-time so travel is a crucial factor.
Locations are extremely easy to overlook but well-facilitated spots for filming are hard to come by and often have a hefty price tag. We are looking at venues for £50-£70 a day that could be suitable, however any £ we raise over our target will allow us to consider more interesting locales, better equipped to host a film crew.
The costume and props we use in Warden will make or break the authenticity of the piece. We know that provided we attain the right budget we will be able to style our characters beautifully, lending their roles the gravitas that the script establishes.
The Impact
The end result of this film will invariably be a potent and contemplative piece of short form cinema, that will engage a wide audience beginning with the casual Brit-flick devotee to those looking to immerse themselves in something that speaks out against the misconception of some stereotypes.
This community-enabled-product - no, this significant and moving, shared story will be far-reaching. Film festival submissions are already being prepared and screenings scheduled upon its release this Summer.
