What is this movie about?

In the Irish countryside, two estranged sisters embark on a brutal fist fight that exposes the complexity of their relationship. This leads them to a poignant discovery - a dead lamb. Through the act of burying the animal, they unearth a pathway to healing, leaving behind the weight of resentment, and rekindling the bond of sisterhood.

Why are we making this movie?

This is a story to honor the complexity of emotions between sisters. Jealousy. Rage. Frustration. Confusion. Grief. Love. Sisters can fucking hate each other. And, they will fucking love each other. Sometimes we just need a physical battle to cleanse our wounds.

Where are we filming?

This story will take place in West Cork, Ireland at the stunning Castle Freke. The idea of something so brutal as a sibling fight taking place against a beautiful landscape parallels with the contrast of emotions embedded in the story.

What is our visual approach?

For the movie's visual approach, using an Alexa 35 camera with anamorphic lenses in the scenic landscapes of Ireland, the focus would be on capturing the raw and organic beauty of the surroundings while immersing the audience in the emotional journey of the characters. The use of natural light would enhance the authenticity and evoke a sense of timelessness.

Cinematography

  • Anamorphic Lenses: Anamorphic lenses would be chosen to achieve the characteristic cinematic look with a unique and captivating visual texture.
  • Wide Shots: The vast landscapes of Ireland would be beautifully showcased through wide shots, using the anamorphic lenses to accentuate the scale and depth of the surroundings.
  • Handheld Shots: Utilize handheld camera work to infuse a sense of gritty immediacy and kinetic energy into the fight scene, immersing the audience in the intense physicality and emotions of the brawl.

Lighting

  • Natural Light: The film would primarily utilize the soft, diffused natural light of the Irish countryside. The shifting sunlight and cloud cover would lend a sense of realism to the visuals, complementing the emotional journey of the characters.
  • Golden Hour: Capturing scenes during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset would infuse warmth and a magical quality into the frames, enhancing the mood and emotions of the characters.

Color Palette

  • Earth Tones: The rich and earthy color palette of the Irish countryside—greens, browns, and deep blues—would dominate the visuals, mirroring the characters' connection to the land.
  • Contrast: The contrasting colors of the sisters' clothing could symbolize their differences while their shared environment unites them.

Visual Symbolism

  • Dead Sheep: The discovery and burial of the dead sheep could symbolize the characters' shared vulnerability and the laying to rest of their conflicts.
  • Landscape Integration: The landscapes could be used metaphorically to reflect the emotional arcs of the characters, evolving from stormy and tumultuous settings to serene and harmonious vistas.

Incorporating these visual elements, the movie's visual approach would create a captivating blend of cinematic artistry and emotional resonance, using the Alexa 35 camera with anamorphic lenses to capture the intricate nuances of the characters' journey against the stunning backdrop of Ireland's natural beauty.
