What's WebKan?
WebKan by N Zero is a powerful device that performs advanced biometric analysis for digital signage systems; it can be connected to an LCD display in your shop.
The device detects valuable information about your customers and displays advertising video based on people's age and gender, delivering the best message for the target audience.

How does it work?
The WebKan device is equipped with a small embedded camera that detects faces. The collected data are sent to the N Zero servers, which perform real-time image analysis and detect biometric parameters. Then the display, using customizable rules, plays the correct video on the screen a few tenths of a second after the person appears in front of the screen.
Using a cloud-based approach, the system can be cost-effective because the image analysis runs on the N Zero servers.
The user only needs to buy cheap hardware (approx. 350 euros) and pay a monthly subscription (approx. 20-25 euros) to access the service.
The device
The device is a small embedded device with a camera, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and HDMI output.
We're evaluating many designs, but the estimated size will be approx. 25 x 12 x 5 cm (9.8 x 4.7 x 2 inches), and the device can be wall-mounted near the LCD monitor.
The first prototype is a laser-cut box made with Plexiglass and MDF.

Even if you do not have a shop but run a company interested in big data, with this campaign, you can buy a ticket to access all our data for a limited time.
With the big data pack, you can get information about people detected by all devices around the world. For privacy reasons, you cannot see user and shop information, but you can aggregate data in many ways for a given period.
Imagine being able to buy access to a month or more of Facebook archives or Twitter Firehose at a fraction of the price.
You can use the data as you like or resell the ticket; the only action that’s prohibited is reselling the data.
Are there privacy issues?
The data are collected and then aggregated; you cannot see the images or associate a face with a name. The purpose of WebKan is to help marketing managers by providing them with information about people visiting their shops, not the ability to spy on them :-)

We have experience in software development, system administration, and security, and we work as IT consultants for private and public companies, universities, and research centers.

FAQ
Do I need technical skills to install the device?
No. The installation is very simple; the device only needs to be powered and connected to a network and an LCD screen.
How much will the final version of the device cost?
Approx. 350 euros.
Does the price of the device include the digital signal display?
No, the price is only for the device; you must buy the digital signage display that fits your needs.
Can I use the device without a digital signage display?
Yes, the device can be used to collect statistical data about your customers.
How much does the service cost?
The monthly subscription cost for the service will be approx. 20-25 euros for every device installed.
How can I control the system?
You'll have access to our Web-based management system that can control every device installed in your organization; you can set up rules, upload video, check stats, enable or disable new devices, even if they are located in different places. You can control everything from your PC or tablet.
Do I need an Internet connection?
Yes, the devices send data to the N Zero servers.
How are media delivered to the devices? I don't have a lot of bandwidth for streaming!
You upload the video to our servers only once. Every video is downloaded only once to every device and then stored in internal storage. If there are many devices on the same LAN (such as multiple digital signage systems in a single shop), the video is downloaded from the Internet once and distributed via the LAN to other devices.
What will happen if a new and better image analysis algorithm is developed? Will my device become obsolete?
Because image analysis is done in the cloud, the WebKan team is constantly improving the computer vision and biometric algorithms that run on our servers, so the WebKan device will never become obsolete.
Every installed piece of hardware will use the latest and most powerful version of the algorithms, without any local upgrades.
Is the device shown on this page the final version?
Maybe; we're testing other designs, and we'll chose the best one.
If I buy the big data pack, can I access all your data?
With the big data pack, you can access all our data for a limited time.
You decide when this period will start (it could be now or many years from now; the pack never expires).
There are only two limitations: you cannot resell the raw data, and you cannot access customer information (for example, you can extract data about customers’ gender and age in a specific area for a market segment, but you cannot obtain the names of the shops).
If this product becomes successful in the future, you’ll be able to buy a lot of valuable marketing data at a very low price. You can also resell the pack at a higher price.
