WEEKEND WARRIOR
We all have our own way of life and for a large part of my community, this way of life is in the vertical world of climbing, crags, mountains and snowy peaks. Place where we can be ourselves, involved and in control of our destiny.
Weekend Warrior - short film:
The Weekend Warrior is a film about ordinary climbers. Ones that go to work every day, ones that live through the week to be able to go to mountains and find their true realisation and reflection of their dreams. We are not professional athletes, but we still give it every ounce, every free minute and even thou we fail sometimes we persist. Week after week after week, forever. We love mountains and we protect them with everything we got. The Weekend Warrior is a personal portrait of a climber. How she sees her place in the climbing world. What it means to her and how climbing makes her life richer.
The Crew:
Stef Kerek: Our star in this film. Steff has been climbing for many years and works as a route setter in some of the most popular climbing venues in England. Stef climbed extensively and reached goals many climbers only dream off.
Jan Bella: Published, professional portrait photographer, climber and runner. Jan came up with the idea and written the whole script for the movie. Organised talented friends and got them involved. Jan has travelled the world in pursuit of portrait photography and capturing photos of interesting people.
Matt Buttler: Another climber on the team. Matt has been around climbing all his adult life. Worked and guided everybody from disabled people to fellow climbers across the Lake District hills. Matt is a voluntary member of Ambleside Mountain Rescue team and will look after our safety on the hills during the filming and in no doubt everytime we step on the hills.
John Shedwick: John is another professional photographer on the team. John has photographed the Lake District from just about every angle and is a valued addition to the team. John is another member of Mountain Rescue Team and all-around good guy. He will be helping with the filming of some scenes.
What You Get?
Every £5 donation will get a social media shout out
Every £20 donation will get mention in the credits
Every £25 donation will get a digital download
Every £100 donation will get an invitation to private screening with the crew
How will your donation be used?
We need your donations to pay for the crew and post-production. We will be filming in the English Lake District a few hours away from our homes. Part of the money will go towards food and accommodation. The other to pay for the crew. I (Jan) will not be taking any money for myself.
If budget allows it, I'd like to use some of the talented local musicians and their music in the film.
I will be funding part of the film by myself from my own saving and selling off unneeded photography gear. This will go towards filming equipment and editing suite - total of around £800
Risks & Challenges
We have worked hard to minimise any risks in bringing this project to a finish. All scripts have been written and everyone who will be on the project is committed. We have got all climbing gear ready and our safety will be well looked after.
When Will We Start Filming?
We're planning to shoot in second half of May or early June and film will be finished by the end June 2017.
