Our Story
Two years ago this December, our
oldest boy was diagnosed with high-risk leukemia at two years of age. Since then, we have been supported in so many
ways by loved ones and strangers alike.
So in an effort to give back & to raise money for Childhood Cancer
Research we have organized a few different fundraisers, while always trying to
keep it creative and fun (like hosting a dodge ball event last year).
This year, in an effort to continue
that creative approach we have created a weight loss challenge that invites
everyone to participate with us. Over the course of the next two months I
(John) will attempt to lose 35 lbs. Anyone who wants to participate can
do so in the following options:
·
You can make a single one-time
donation OR
·
You can pledge an amount for each lb
I drop
Here’s
where it gets fun …since Katherine thinks I cannot achieve this goal, we have
created a competition between the two of us.
For every pound I make over my goal (i.e. for every pound I lose in
addition to the 35lb goal), Katherine must perform a challenge from a
collection of ‘dares’. Vice versa, for
every pound I am under my goal amount, I must draw a dare and perform it.
If you decide to pledge a certain amount per pound lost, all you need to do is make the pledge on my FB page (John Griese).... then you can donate the amount once the final weigh loss is known.
For
every participant that donates or makes a pledge for any amount, you will have the
opportunity to add your own creative dare to the mix. At the end of the two months we will put all
of the dares in a hat and will draw them out one at a time. Also, for every 50 likes we get on FB, I (John) will draw and perform an additional dare.
Remember, in the end, this is all about the kids!! ...September is Childhood Cancer Awareness (as well as Blood Cancer Awareness)
Month. We thank you all in advance for
your support and participation. Now get
to work thinking of some creative dares!!
Thank you,
John and Katherine Griese
**P.S. Dares
must be safe, clean and relatively reasonable – remember these will be posted
online so lets keep it classy San Diego!!
