Four middle -class women are suddenly thrown into an apocalyptic world. Their only chance of survival? To fight. And dance.
Gillian, Christina, Michelle and Ruth are friends from a local joga (judo/yoga hybrid) class. When nuclear bombs fall on the country town of Hadley, they are thrust into a performance-based dystopia that separates them from their friends, family, and the lives they lead before.
Late one night, after being forced to leave their beloved sanctuary ('The Warehome’), the women are thrust into the chaos of the radiated town and come face-to-face with mutants and raiders. In a place where safety is long forgotten, the women soon realise that the only way to survive the trials of the new, intoxicated human race is to perform their way out of peril.
When The Bombs Came Down is a unique and ambitious project - likened to 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' and 'La La Land', this story is a melting pot of sarcasm and wit with a dollop of razzamatazz, for good measure. However, no matter how passionate we are about telling this story, we really cannot make this film a reality without your help.
Your generous donations will go towards getting the most authentic props, costumes and locations; catering for our cast and crew on-set; transporting our talent and equipment between locations; marketing our film, and of course, paying our marvelous on-screen talent.
(See the pretty chart below for an accurate breakdown of our budget)
Please note: none of our creative team are profiting from this production. We are making this film to bring laughter to our audiences and to showcase our talent as a crew - not to profit. Every penny of your donation will go towards the production and nothing else.
When The Bombs Came Down is the long-awaited comedic tale that puts women in the heart of the action. We're slapping the "Femme Fatal" label round the chops and telling a great story with a strong cast of leading ladies. Britain is bristling with wonderful female talent, and When The Bombs Came Down will perfectly showcase this. As well as this, Rich Gibbon's fantastic script blends sci-fi with action and comedy (with a healthy sprinkling of musical numbers) to tell the wacky, fictitious tale of dystopian, northern Britain.
When The Bombs Came Down is the sarcastic, charming comedy that we need to bring light to an otherwise bleak world of current affairs; and quite simply, is just too bizarre to ignore.
We've designed our perks system to reward you in a way that we believe will make you feel like part of the production. Whether that be something as simple as a thank you from us, or something as important as a walk on role as an extra; we feel like you as a donor should be one of the When The Bombs Came Down team and want you to know how much your support means to us.
No money? Lost your debit card for the fifth time? We get it.
If you can't donate to us this second, don't worry! It's not the end of the world... yet.
You can still help us out. It would mean everything to us if you could share this page around and get your friends, co-workers, and estranged family members talking about us. The more shares, likes, and tweets we can get about this project, the closer we can get to achieving our goal. We need to generate a fan base and we can only do that with your help.
Once again, thank you from the WTBCD team :)
