Short Summary
Whiskey Tears is a short film, focusing on a broken family and the importance of forgiveness
and seeing things from the perspective of others. Our story focuses on Dan, a young man
starting a family of his own, when ,out of the blue, his estranged father resurfaces after
twenty years with no contact.
Whiskey Tears will be my second short film, my first, ‘Blood on the Road’, is currently being
submitted to film festivals nationally and internationally. For the past six years, I have been
freelancing in the film industry, working on both sides of the camera, but my heart has
always remained with directing and writing.
Now that my first short film is making it's way to festivals, your contributions to this film will
enable me to keep the ball rolling, moving onto bigger and more challenging projects.
Whiskey Tears will be following suit, entering multiple festivals and reaching an ever-
expanding audience, all because of the contributions you have made to the film-making
process.
The Team
-
Jon Freeman, Director/ Writer – 'Whiskey Tears' will be my second short film and throughout the years I have been freelancing in the film industry my heart has always been drawn to directing and writing. During my freelancing experience I have been fortunate enough to work on some truly amazing projects, including the BAFTA nominated short film 'Wale'.
-
Charlotte Jones, Producer - I have worked in the media industry for the past 11 years, as a presenter/producer. I have always wanted to work in television and started with an internship with ITV. After freelancing with various companies over the years I realised I had gained enough experience to start my own production company, Peanut Productions, 'Whiskey Tears' will be our first official production with Peanut and I cannot wait to get this project underway!
-
Ben Alexander, Co-Writer/ Actor - I have been freelancing in the film industry since 2013, I started as a production assistant, but found myself working as a DIT on multiple film projects including BAFTA nominated short film 'Wale'. My passion has always been acting, I played the role of Bobby Wilson in 'Blood on the Road' and will be playing the leading role of Dan in 'Whiskey Tears'. This project has given me the chance to try my hand at writing a script and will let me take my acting skills to the next level.
-
Kat Callow, First Assistant Director - I started work in theatre, in the wardrobe department, before moving onto stage management. I have worked for many years as a company stage manager for various theatre productions around the country, including Sesame Street Live, Rising Damp UK Tour and many pantomimes! I am also an actor and, after working with children's theatre company, Cats Grin, I trained in screen acting at the International School of Screen Acting in 3 Mills Studios. After taking on the responsibility of costume for ‘Blood on the Road’ I am delighted to be collaborating with Jon and Peanut Productions once again, on this exciting, short film.
What We Need & What You Get
For this project, we will need to raise £2,000. This will cover a two-day shoot, ensuring we
pay each crew member a fair daily rate. It will also help us cover the cost of filming
equipment from camera to lighting.
Check out the graph Below for a clearer look at where your contributions will be going.

We have a wide range of perks for this film; we want our perks to feel personal, to show our
gratitude. We’ll have all sorts of goodies for you, from signed scripts and posters to invites
to the film’s screening debut!
If we, sadly, fail to reach our goal, we will still continue to push forward with making this
movie, ‘Whiskey Tears’ will still be produced, it might delay the process, but we promise the
money you contribute to this production will be used to create a professional piece of
cinema we can all be proud of.
The Impact
We are currently bringing together a team with a true passion for film making. Your
contributions will mean that we can create an award worthy short film.
As mentioned above, this will be my second short film. ‘Blood on the Road’ was an amazing
experience and I learned so much from everybody involved, but again that project wouldn’t
have been possible without the help of people like you. With your help we will be able to do
the same with ‘Whiskey Tears’.
