A transmedia art project inspired by cinema

WHAT IS THE FILM ABOUT?
The film is set in the backdrop of a city, in today's modern era. The story revolves around a woman, Anastasia, who finds herself trapped to her own ignorance. On her way home a twist of fate, changes her life forever.
The film is heavily inspired by old Greek folklore myths. Tales of the past that used to talk about superstitions. For us this film is a suspense thriller, that walks between noir, horror and fantasy. Does this makes any sense? It sure does to us!
To read more about the film, take a look to our main website at www.whistlefilm.com and make sure you click on the "subscribe" button to get all the latest news.
We are using an old story, not to reiterate the past, but rather to present it in a new and unexpected way
With this film, we want to make our voice heard not only as artists but as active citizens, and share how we are experiencing cinema. For that, WHISTLE is not just a short film, it's an art project with many aspects!

What is the WHISTLE project?
WHISTLE project is a transmedia art exhibition inspired by Whistle, a fantasy triller short film. The goal of this project is to introduce a new way of "cinematic storytelling" to the public. Using the different perspective and dynamic of each visual art form, we are creating a unified story that evolves in space and time. The audience is invited to participate creatively, experience all parts, discover, question and reshape the story, through its own personal view. We are also promoting the idea of synergy in art, through international submissions. And above all that, the idea of a truly independent film production that has nothing to do with the "established" film order.

Above: We have gathered more than 80 pieces of artwork submitted by more that 50 visual artists from 25 countries around the world. All works are inspired by the film's thematic (superstitions). All works cover art fields such as painting, sculpture, illustration, photography, video art, collage, graphic design.

The world is changing fast and what we thought we could take for granted is just no longer true. The same applies in visual arts. We believe we must find new ways of communicating with and engage our audience and we are actually doing it with this project.
How we do it:
- By working independently, away from any established form of funding and directly addressing each audience member asking to support us in any way she or he can.
-
Collaborating with visual artists from all over the world. Painters, illustrators, sculptors, performers, video artists, musicians. Collaborating with them in all stages of production.
-
Moving away from the usual path of distribution and bringing the movie to an open art exhibition, as part of a transmedia experience. An entire thematic section under the same roof, that begins with cinema and expands to many other art forms (as mentioned above). Art forms that tell the story in a very unique and yet diverse way! Different artistic styles, different cultural perspectives, all joined as one.
-
Organising talks, meetings and presentations with WHISTLE's cast and crew, so that the audience is not just a passive receiver but an active participant, during the exhibition.
We do not think of the film as an experience that when viewed fades away, but as an excuse, a triggering event, a reason to produce an artistic conversation and a literal dialogue with everyone interested.
This is the way we feel cinema should work.

WHO ARE WE AND WHAT WE WANT
We are a collective group of artists and media professionals, who came together because of our love for cinema, for art and more importantly, because we feel that the current way of producing and distributing visual content, is not for us.
We want to reclaim our right to create without being strangled, patronized or led by faceless corporations and business models.
Our background lays in cinema, theatre, photography, painting, sculpting and music, and up to now, our collective is comprised of the following people :
