SEAN HARRIS & MONTSERRAT LOMBARD present WHITE - A fairy tale for adults with the dark beauty of a brightly coloured Grimm's fairy tale
Hello, my name is Montse and I am the director behind this short film called WHITE, written by me and BAFTA nominated actor, Sean Harris. Above is 'BATTLES' from 2012 that i directed Sean in.
Sean and I have been writing this story for the last couple of years and we are both very excited to be so close to finally realising our vision. We already have some funding in place but not enough to make the film the script deserves! So we are now appealing to you to help us raise the money we need in order to go into production and bring this story to life.
All the money raised will be going directly onto the screen to ensure we make the highest quality film we can. All the crew have generously donated their time.
Cast and Crew - Who are we?
Both Sean and I are actors originally and we have both had the pleasure to work on award winning TV series and films. Sean - Southcliffe, Jamaica Inn, 24 hour Party People, Red Riding, Prometheus and soon to be released, Macbeth. What We Need & What You Get
To make this happen, we now need your help to get this film off the ground. The money we raise through this campaign will go towards costs like kit rental, travel expenses, costume, make up, prop hire, feeding the crew, permits, parking, location fees and all other fees that go into making a film. Even though this is a small production, to make it to the standard we want, we still need to meet our budget to pull it off and you can help make it happen!
We have thought up lots of fun perks to make up for your generosity. We promise to keep busy and give you regular updates on how the production is going, sending you lots of info and pictures from the shoot and the days leading up to it. We now only have a few weeks to reach our goal so if there is any way you can help, we will be ever grateful. Even if you can't donate any money, please feel free to share this page or spread the word!
Thanks so much for reading this and please share with your friends if you think this project sounds interesting!
Lots of love - The WHITE crew x
Synopsis
WHITE is a fairy tale for adults with the dark beauty of a brightly coloured Grimm's fairy tale. A land full of desert and abandoned hope which a bright sun beats down upon. A secret, strange world that at once seems so familiar and yet like nowhere you have ever been before.
Samuel (Sean Harris) has lived many lives, troubled by a past he tries hard to forget. He stands out against the barren land that surrounds him, his bright red hair shining brightly in the emptiness. He doesn't belong in this world, he doesn't know where he belongs. He has a special 'gift', which is a blessing and a curse and each day he fights to live with it.
Visually there will be things that feel very familiar from cult classics like Badlands, Paris Texas and early Lynch but there will be a European sensibility to it, a UK twist on it, a new UK that is filled with many people of many cultures and races that have all blended and influenced one another and this is very much reflected in the casting as well as the set and costume design. The colours in WHITE will seem bright, vivid and unreal.
The film will feel fresh but classic. I want to be brave with strong lighting and strong wide angled shots, a slow moving Dolly, nothing hand held, letting the scene play out before us as we sit back and watch. Although WHITE is a short film I want to shoot it, cast it, grade it and edit it like a feature. I truly feel it's what it's story and characters deserve.
