My name is Ted Gradisher. I was a commercial printer for 17 years. After that, I tried stand-up comedy after some coaxing from some friends. My mentor said I would do great, but it would take about 6 months to start making steady money. So I kept working a regular job because of my embedded work ethic and responsibility to bring home a regular paycheck for my family.
I was told about a local independent filmmaker doing a comedy and wanted standup comedians to act in it, so I tried out. Got a small role and ended up starting to help out on set. I became the Production Manager and ended up doing all the marketing and promotion for the movie. My wife also helped out on set and encouraged me to do our own movie.
After a car accident left me unable to perform my regular job, I ended up interviewing for lesser jobs. No disrespect to vacuum cleaner salesmen, but that was a job I trained for 3 days for. After not returning the 4th day, and taking another job offer, I came up with the idea for the movie of a killer vacuum cleaner.
My wife and I are still working regular jobs while trying to fund this movie and it has just taken a toll on both of us. (the change jar in the video is litterally how we save for equipment and props) A friend of mine who used to write for some NBC sitcoms, helped me finish writing the movie and has added so much to this already hilarious comedy. With help from other friends and family, we are so close. We just need to put together some final things. A camera, a few monitors, special effects software, props, make-up, drinks and snacks to offer on set for each shoot.
