Last year my friend, Devon, and I wrote a little horror short. It was something fun to do based on a Native American myth I had been researching: the mythical beast known as 'Windigo' or Wendigo, as it is more commonly known. It's a pretty terrifying beast that loves eating people and the image I've provided is just one of many descriptions of what it may look like. Around the same time as when we wrote "Windigo", Devon and I had reconnected with another friend, Justin, a director and editor.
The three of us have decided to shoot the short, which is a 10 minute long teaser for a feature idea we are in the process of writing. We love the old school grindhouse horror flicks and have a huge appreciation for the genre.
The short is fully cast and we begin production on Sunday, May 15, 2011, but the cost is being paid out-of-pocket by me and my husband. Things ended up being much more expensive than expected and we need your help to make sure we can get this film done on time without losing our shirts (or homes).
Since no one else is helping us fund this project, we are looking to fellow horror fans, friends, colleagues and family to help us get this short done without breaking the bank (or my credit card limits). We only need $3000 to cover the out-of-pocket costs that we have already incurred and will occur over the next couple of weekends when we're shooting. Your money will help cover insurance, generator rentals, special effects make-up, craft services, wardrobe, props and even help us create our awesome stage blood and body parts.
For those that donate $500 or more, we will offer you a producing credit on the film
For those that donate $100 or more, we will send you one prop or other signed item from the shooting of the short
Everyone who donates will received a DVD copy of the short.
Please share this with your friends - we don't need much and your money will be put to good use!
