What is WIPP?
We are Work In Progress Productions (WIPP, for short) we are a non-profit theatre group orginating from Middle Island (Middle Island Presbyterian Church) and we're asking for your help to fund our upcoming Spring show "Working Title!" It is the 10th anniversary of our group, which is why to kick off our upcoming season, our group decided to do something that is completely new to us... this will be our first self-written show! It is a script completely put together by the creative thoughts and styles of our very own cast members. You can imagine how much hard work and effort our cast put into such a show, which is why we'd want more than anything to see their thoughts come to life AND to be seen by all that can... Which is another new addition to our tenth year, our group is looking to tour to different venues for the first time in our ten year run! You can imagine how much effort our kids put into all of this, which is why we could really use any help we can get from all of our lovely supporters (THATS YOU!)
What We Need & What You Get
- We need rental money for new spaces, new venues, all around our neighboring towns on Long Island.
- We also need money for sets, costumes, props, and whatever else it is that brings the magic to the stage.
- The more exposure we get, the more our group can grow, and the more we can entertain people like you for many more years to come!
- If you donate, there can be wonderful gifts and prizes in it FOR YOU, right from the actors/producers/directors themselves! (MORE PERKS WILL BE ADDED TO THIS CAMPAIGN AS TIME PROGRESSES, it's still early, but the cast is currently thinking up ideas to please our funders who push the extra mile for us. So please donate all you can.)
If we don't reach our goal, the money will go into the organizations that allowed us to perform in their venues and into the merchandising we provide for both the cast/crew and the supporters that do fund us(posters, tshirts, etc.)
The Impact
WIPP was built by the theatre kids that never got the chance to show their truest potential on stage or behind the curtain, we have always allowed the kids that join our group to express themselves in ways they never could through a theatrical experience that allows them both to better themselves in what they love to do and to have a fun and memorable experience in the presence of people they can both look up to and call on as close friends. We have become more of a family-based organization over the years and we plan on staying that way.
-
For theatrically interested kids from ages 14+ there aren't many ways to be this expressive in theatrical arts. I mean, what theatre group allows you to write your own show?!
- This is a fun, lovable, talented group of people that only look to improve themselves even more each year.
-
If allowed to expand throughout the Island(or even further than that perhaps, in years to come) we would have such an impact on kids who don't have a strong support group of friends, have an undiscovered talent, and want to make a difference in their community but don't know how to be heard. WIPP does that for our kids.
In the last ten years, WIPP has become a family filled with traditions and support from all who associate with us. We have had a very strong impact on those involved with us and left those who have come to see us with something they will always remember. Our only goal is to continue our ongoing success. But we need your help to do it.
