We need YOU to bring Woman Before A Glass to Chicago!

"Rosenblatt has the most important quality for this role: attitude... piercingly  authentic"   ~  The New York Times, May 2011

With your help, wonderful supporters, Judy Rosenblatt and Genesis Theatrical Productions will bring this award-winning, one-woman show, Woman Before A Glass, to The National Pastime Theater at the Preston Bradely Center in Chicago this January. Directed by Austin Pendleton, this show has delighted audiences and critics in performances past, and intends to keep doing so in the future. Putting up this spectacular show for its Chicago premiere, though, will depend upon the help and good will of many - it will depend on you.

Many of you, like us, believe in the progressive, sympathetic, humanizing power that theater possesses. This story, by Lanie Robertson, is exactly that - a look into the life of   the woman who was largely responsible for discovering, subsidizing and rescuing from the clutches of the Nazis, much of the Modern Art of the first half of the Twentieth Century.  Your support for this show would bring a new audience a fresh look at the life of Peggy Guggenheim.

The Scoop

To put the show up, we need to raise $10000. This will cover a range of costs:

  • Venue Rental
  • Transportation
  • Set, Costume, & Props
  • Lodging
  • Publicity and Marketing

Support of all shapes and sizes are deeply felt and appreciated. We need a bare minimum of $10000 to put the show up, but we hope to soar above and beyond our expectations - no gift is too large, small, or oblong.  It humbles us to have your aid in our efforts to share a great piece of theater with a wide audience.

If you cannot contribute through IndieGoGo, you can still help! Please spread the word and forward this Campaign to those you know!

Deepest thanks for your support!

"Director Austin Pendleton has created a lovely world with actress Judy Rosenblatt... Rosenblatt makes us feel the warmth of a woman who lives through her art... and along the way makes us laugh and cry with her all-too-human pains."

About the Play

Rebelling against her wealthy New York upbringing, indulging her uncanny eye for great art and artists, and becoming the infant terrible of the modern art scene, Peggy Guggenheim lived a life almost too amazing to be believed. With humor, heartbreak, and grand hauteur, WOMAN BEFORE A GLASS offers the unforgettable story of a woman before her time.

Smoking, drinking, name-dropping, art, men and the men who make art... introduces us to the sensational history of Ms. Guggenheim.

"Rosenblatt lights up the stage with her seemingly limitless energy. Her performance shines..."
