Welcome!
We
are Kellyn and Lauren, two film students looking to make a killer senior
project. We’re raising funds for our short film untitled “WOODS,” which
chronicles the fantastical adventures of Maddy, a young girl who faces a
monster in the woods behind her childhood home.
This
project gives us a chance to showcase all that we’ve learned throughout our
years at school, through a story that we feel passionate about and deeply
connected to. We love the act of creation and telling good stories, and want to
be able to contribute to the ancient tradition of artful storytelling in a
meaningful way.
But
we need help. We’ve got the creativity, we’ve got the drive, we’ve got the
passion, hopes and dreams. But we don’t got the money. That’s where you can
help!
Money
Money Money
Down
to the dirty business. When you donate, rest assured that your money will help
fund vital costs including:
· Transportation
· Food
· Wardrobe
· Props
· Festival Submissions
All
of these costs add up, and we simply can’t afford to cover them all ourselves.
And when you give, you get rewarded with fun perks! See the side for details.
This
Is Important
We’ve
successfully created several short films in the past, each of which has brought
us closer and closer to fully realizing our original vision through the medium
of film. This is an opportunity to showcase all that we’ve learned through our
college years and our semester in LA.
We want to
make this film to find commonality between humans through the sharing of a
story. We want to explore truth, and make internal experiences external. We
want to create a sense of community between those working on the film as well
as between the audience and filmmakers and between the viewers.
And
we want to submit to festivals! We want this film to be SEEN and experienced by
a broad audience and receive feedback on our work.
It
Won’t Be Easy
We
decided to take risks in the development of this film, including tricky effects
in the script like a magical jump rope that defies gravity and pine cone
grenades that explode in puffs of color. These effects will undoubtedly enhance
the overall quality of the film, as well as stretch us in new and creative ways.
And with the proper practice and planning, we’re confident we can pull it off.
And
of course, filming a short film outdoors in New England always poses the risk
that the weather will be less then ideal. But again, with proper planning and a
bit of flexibility, we believe we’ll succeed.
Shout
It From the Roof Tops!
Excited
yet? We are too! If you’re looking for another way to help, please, please,
please spread the word and encourage your friends to donate. We’re truly
grateful for all the support we can get, and any money we raise over our goal
will only help make our film better (and help us submit to more festivals).
So, spread the word!
