Fight like your grandad
This book is my take on aggregating the works of British WW2 Combatives and Self Defence Instructors, primarily the methods of the legend that is W.E Fairbairn.
It includes over 200 image laden pages of original content that showcases the development of the material from the early Shanghai Municipal Police years through to World War 2.
The book will have clear lucid photography and be very much designed as a training manual by, and for, martial artists.
I am a boxer, judoka and all-round martial artist, founder of the Bartitsu Lab and I hope that my writing style and step by step process make the book a great find for the experienced self defence practitioner and newbie alike.
What's in the book?
It contains clear and comprehensive how-to guides on:
- Striking
- Grappling (throws, locks, chokes)
- How to use and defend against Baton, FS Knife, Smatchet, pistol and rifle
- Defences against HAPV (habituals acts of physical violence)
- Awareness, fight psychology and strategy
The material makes it very easy to follow and provides extra depth and detail for readers familiar with the works which could not be included in the concise editions. This includes how to chain together combinations, how and where to best apply them, and tips for training them at home or in your dojo.
The material also takes a look at supporting and ancillary work including:
- British Military Boxing / Boxing of the 1940s
- The weapons of the SOE
- Additional content from 1920s - 1940s Judo, Ju Jitsu and other arts that make up WW2 Combatives
This will be my second book, following the Bartitsu book I published in September 2020.
What you get
The book has already been written, and photographed. It is being laid out as we speak, ready for final proofing, sense check and finalisation. It was shot in WW2 clothing, at a historic aerodrome and is a great read for anyone interested in:
- WW2
- Early Krav Maga / Kapap
- Self Defence / Combatives
- Martial arts
It'll be in A5 Landscape format and be easy to follow, easy to apply and a great addition to any serious martial artists' book collection.
The £30 covers delivery to anywhere in the UK or Europe. For US or outside of that zone it's £38 (don't blame, blame postage costs!). £50 gets you a "Fight like your grandad" T shirt too!
If you have any questions or queries please do ask, I am more than happy to answer. Print date, early October 2020.
Stay safe and train well,
