It's his take on spoofing the classic Uncanny X-Men #4 cover right down to making it look like it came from the 1960's!  Coincidentally, Mark went into animation after drawing for us and landed a job on X-Men: The Animated Series!

What You Get

This is our biggest, boldest project yet! We have a HUGE GRAPHIC NOVEL in the works with seven individual stories by some of comics brightest talents!

• “The Unfunny X-Cons: The Beginning”, a 10-page parody of the original Stan Lee and Jack Kirby 1963's X-Men #1 by Don Chin, Mark Lewis, Kurt Hathaway and Delfin Barral.  Professor Ex with his young prodigies Anglo, Beastie-Boy, Dumbkophs, Marvelous Girl, and Sno-Cone must defeat the evil plant-based villain Magnutto! Done in retro-aged color FX!

• “X-Farce”, a complete 21-page adventure which was the first ever collaboration of Chin and Maus for Eclipse Comics in 1992. It was the best-selling black and white satire for that year, and was a parody of Rob Liefeld's X-Force #1.  X-Farce members Cable TV, Dominoze, Eightball, Shboom Shboom, Garferal, Fallenstar and Tonto must thwart the evil Mpuppet Liberation Force and their secret weapon, the all-pungent wise-cracking mutant known as Cesspool!  Story by Don Chin, art by Bill Maus, Bob Hanon and colored by Delfin Barral.

• “The Newt Mutants” by Chin and Thad (Zen Intergalactic Ninja) Rhodes , lettered by Keith Gleason.  A short story in the artistic painted style of Bill Sienkiewicz about Young Amphibians with strange powers who were rejects from the Van Sciver Institute of New Jersey.

• “Professor Ex: Auditions” by Mike (Nexus) Baron, Ted Helard and Barral.  The X-Cons must interview potential new hero recruits after mutant Hunger James ate himself. 

• “The Overcomplicated And Completely Unnecessary Power-House of X” by Keith Gleason, Ian Waryanto and Anton Bandi.  The Professor has a chance encounter with Moira McMorbid and she shares her vision of an All-Mutant Island Nation known as Whackoa.  Gleason, Waryanto and Bandi are also the creative team behind “The Mighty Mascots”, a popular independent title  for Alterna Comics.
  
  
  

• “WHAT IF…Other Comic Book Companies Had Mutants?” by Chin, Delfin Barral and Michael Grassia.  Asks the hypothetical question of The Unfunny X-Cons Creators Stan Wee and Vac Kirby if they they worked for publishers other than Marble Comics and came up with mutant heroes for them.  “It’s narrated by The Poacher, who is basically Elmer Fudd in space who likes to wuh-wuh-wuh watch from afar,” said Chin.
  
  

• ​“The X-Cons Meet The Infringers in Mission: Antarctica!” By Chin and Kurt Hathaway.  “We challenge the reader’s imagination in this short art-free story that has nothing but word balloons and sound effects”, said Chin.

• We are hoping that this comic book's success will allow us to bring more fun, high-quality material to an ever-growing enthusiastic audience. It is our FIRST CROWDFUNDED endeavor and we hope to make it the first of many offerings for our fans!

Risks & Challenges

• We are happy to report that 80% of this book's art and story are already completed! 
• It's been a labor of love to bring the creative teams together and we are in a strong and confident position to see this book to the finish line and get it into your hands.
• Our funding goal is minimal at $1,700 (we didn't quit our day jobs, lol) and we are feeling GREAT about being able to deliver this book to you on or before April 1, 2021. (No joke!) 
• Best of all, most creators to the book have already been paid for their work. We are just awaiting what should be a mind-blowing variant cover #1B by ROB WILLIS & MATT YACKEY, and for a couple short stories to be illustrated, which should be done by the end of January 2021.
