X3 Log was the first band based app designed specifically around the X3 Bar.
It was originally sold as a one-time purchase in the app stores, which was short sighted. As a cloud based app, we have recurring expenses, so one time revenue makes long term maintenance and updates impractical.
It's been a few years since the app has received any updates and it's been removed from the Google Play store due to lack of compliance with their latest policies.
In order to make the app sustainable and get an updated version published, we're looking to pivot to a subscription based model.
$5/month or $50/year.
If we can meet or exceed our goal, which only requires roughly 100 people to pledge their annual license fee, I'll dive in and give the app a refresh.
What You Can Expect
A new web-based, mobile optimized app
- This means no more iOS and Android specific apps being maintained separately.
- This will speed up the development process and make it much simpler to deploy updates for you.
- You'll be able to save the app to your home screen on your phone, which makes it easy to get get back to it.
- You'll be able to access the same features from your phone or computer, as it'll be running the exact same code. No more odd differences between web/iOS/Android.
All features from X3 Log Pro included in monthly/annual subscription
- If you're an existing X3 Log Pro subscriber, you won't have to do anything!
Bug Fixes
- It's been a long time since I've done a release, so there's a few bugs kickin' around that need to be squashed.
New Features!
- I'll grab a few of the most requested features in the old Trello board and include those in this new V3 release.
- By focusing on the web-based version, rather than web + native apps, more time can be invested in new features.
Risks & Challenges
There's not much risk to speak of. The biggest challenge to this project has been allocating the time, which is what led me to creating this campaign. If the campaign is successful, I can justify allocating the time to developing the updated version.
