A basic accesory for a modern console.
November 2013. That was the last time that we could buy a basic wireless mic for our modern consoles. Maybe it's because we rejected their always on model, maybe it's because we rejected kinect (twice), maybe it's because we wouldn't stop calling it the bone, maybe it's because someone at xbox has a bet on. Who knows why but xbox have decided to neglect a basic accessory for an entire generation and it's time we fixed that.
Four different versions of a wireless controller. A wired chat mic and a stereo wired headset they will sell you though and third parties have you covered for all kinds of wireless and wired full on headsets at every price point. Yet amongst all that, there is still no basic wireless chat mic.
Headphones are great and are the in thing, especially with streamers but lots of us still use speaker systems for our general gaming and don't appreciate being tethered to the pad for no real reason.
As this will connect via the controller we will be able to have convenient volume up/down/mute right there at your thumb instead of fumbling for inline controls or reaching up to your ear.
What we need and what we will do.
We will build a mic that connects into the 3.5mm port on the controller negating the need of a usb connection and the need to be a licensed product by xbox. As far as the console is concerned it will just be connected to any old wired mic.
This will also work with playstation, switch, phones and any other application that have a 3.5mm audio connection. If the demand is there connector varients will be produced for different applications.

The fluff.
There isn't really much more to say that that. This is relatively simple project that should be able to be completed quickly. We promise to provide updates as often as possible and answer any questions. We will let you know what's going on at every stage and let the know the causes of any delays should they arise.
The bottom line.
According to statista there are nearly 50m xbox ones in the wild. If even 1% would prefer a wireless option over the existing wired only offering that is on the order of half a million units. Xbox seem to have no intention of making a wireless mic for the nextbox but even if they do that doesn't help the millions of people that will be playing xbox one for years to come and as they have said all their controllers will be future compatible then this mic will also be guaranteeing basic wireless chat fucntionality without having to pair to an app or some other extra, uneeded steps.
Final note.
Please don't click the really expensive option unless you have cash to burn. You won't be getting your moneys worth (unless you really value gratitude)!
