From inception, XY The Brand was meant to be a fresh perspective on modern day street wear that defies the laws of fashion by embracing the term 'be different' without being cliche in today's industry.

From The Beginning

Life was growing increasingly hard for us..

With a high unemployment rate, lack of 'real' opportunities and an unplanned pregnancy, the brain child of an artistic man coupled with the need to support our family, XY was born.

In October 2016, a quite serious pillow conversation made a quick turn into a business idea while trying to guess what the sex of our child was going to be. After constant back and forth, the consensus went from pink to blue and so did our idea. 

Shamar always had a 'thing' for hats and as he was customizing his cap while sitting at the bottom of our bed, bouncing ideas off of each other, he flipped it around and there it was.. X Y.

From that day on, we made the conscious decision put our heads together, use what little funds we had, our creativity and talents to make XY a reality.

How We Did It

Without access to conventional means of printing, or funds to outsource the creation of our designs, our only option was to paint everything by hand on our dining table. We first began using inexpensive oil based paints - boy did we learn our lesson, to educating ourselves about the appropriate paints and tools necessary to execute our ideas.

From being self taught in Photoshop, to using a simple stencil knife to cut out our designs, applying the stencils with cheap scotch tape, and finally retouching with a paintbrush, no matter how taxing, we've always pushed through despite the adversity and did what had to be done.

What's Next For Us

Over the course of the last year, we've thoughtfully increased our brand awareness here in Barbados but our ideas for our growth has outgrown our current capabilities so with your help, we can expand our product range and our brand.

• Lease a Direct to Garment printer and purchase supplies
• Purchase stock (various types of apparel, bags, promotional pieces)
• Increase output and decrease production time
• Securing a storefront and storage space
• Employ staff

Future Mission

With continued growth, we intend to make XY a globally recognized streetwear powerhouse that will open more opportunities for us to change the culture.

Drawing the inspiration from the newest addition to our family, Harper-Ryan became a symbol of strength, resilience and determination for us to create something unique and artistically inclined to transform the course of fashion in the Caribbean and then the world.
