How it works
Our Satellite
![]()
Info about our constellation
The satellite constellation will consist of 135 LEO satellites on circular orbit, at 370 miles [600 km] altitude. They will cover the entire planet’s surface.
One of the most important points about our satellites is they should be fairly light and small enough to be stacked in one large rocket such as Falcon Heavy. We’re designing them exactly that way - to do just one launch. This will cut initial funding required to create an infrastructure, so we’ll be able to provide cheaper services.

Our
application will be available in such stores as AppStore or Google
Play. Once installed, the application will provide your smartphone
with full-scale control over Yaliny Point for always-with-you
internet connection and VoIP-like services – the ability to place
and receive calls, texts and so on. We’re designing it to be fast
and reliable, with excellent encryption, convenient synchronization,
and the ability to connect to standard internet links like 3G and
others. This application will also have several additional important
features that you can’t imagine a mobile app without.

Why we need your support
The real key to ending all those bad experiences we face with mobile phone services is effective infrastructure. Realistically, there is only one way to make communications actually available worldwide - and that’s through the use of satellites in space.
Here at Yaliny, we use cutting edge technologies and have been working hard for more than a year, to design small, light, inexpensive and high performance satellites from cratch. Simultaneously, we’ve also been working on the other components that make up the telecommunication infrastructure.
We've successfully completed that research stage, and are going to the next level - actually building a satellite, Yaliny Point and other hardware.
However, making this a reality is a process which demands a lot of extensive scientific innovation, time and money.
We invite you to partner with us to create our future together.
Why we need $250 000
All funds we'll raise through Indiegogo will be spent on a hardware. In order to build a full scale satellite prototype on this stage, we need very expensive equipment for Super High Frequency electronics, different satellite parts and so on.
Please support us to make this happen.

Q: What will be the latency in service we provide?
A: Latency inside our system will not be more than 350-400 ms and typically it’s much lower. It is our top priority to keep issues like that under control. We are able to provide that latency because our satellites will be on a low orbit, so any signals will have a short path, and because we’re working on smart routing.
We think 400 ms is a pretty good value for latency of satellite service, and it will allow our customers to use the satellite connections for all applications including voice conversations, internet services and so on without inconvenience.
Q: What about Uplink?
A: Uplink
channel has more energy than downlink, and is easier to design.
This occurs because each satellite has plenty of
connections and its transmitter shares energy between many receivers on devices.
And each device’s transmitter works with just one satellite receiver. So the
energy of the combined transmitters of many devices is higher than the energy
of a single satellite transmitter. Since the antennas of both channels are the
same, the uplink has more energy.
Each
device will have a 2W transmitter and unique antennas with narrow radiation
patterns. This will help to save a particular device’s and a particular
satellite’s energy and maintain good connection.
Q: What is the bandwidth?
A: We’ll
provide each device with up to 2Mbps (uplink and downlink combined) of
bandwidth. However, in rush hours the bandwidth could be lower, but still
enough to maintain a good connection for voice conversations and simple
internet activity.
Our priority in the initial stages is to provide our
customers with cheap, convenient and worldwide mobile communications. Once we
have accomplished that then in successive stages we’ll increase the bandwidth
of our links.
Q: Why do we need 135 satellites?
A: There’re
two key reasons:
a)
We’d like to cover the whole planet.
b)
We need to keep latency under control and provide sufficient bandwidth.
Those
issues combined define many factors like: satellite type, altitude of orbit
(Low Earth Orbit), quantity of satellites and so on. We have spent plenty of
time doing research, and we think 135 is the right number to provide great
global services at affordable price.
Q: Why do we think we can make mobile communications cheap, convenient and
worldwide, while large tech corporations can’t?
A: Large
corporations usually are not very quick, innovative or smart. They do have
money, but money is not the only ingredient, and definitely not the most
important one. Moreover there’re many management levels, special decision
making processes and so on. Good ideas much rather get a “no” from management,
because new ideas imply new risks. And who likes risks? And who is willing to
take it? Entrepreneurs are, not managers.
Skype,
Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon - those companies weren’t large corporations
when they decided to change the world. But ultimately they did. That’s how it
works.
Q: What about prices?
A: Yaliny
Point, our device, will cost about $150.
Communications
within our network, internet and all incoming calls will be free, with a $10 monthly subscription fee.
Outgoing
calls to outside of our network will be cheaper than usual VoIP rates (like
Skype).
Q: What size/weight will Yaliny Point have? How long will its battery last?
A: Yaliny Point will weigh not
more than a regular smartphones, and will have about the same size. And our
devices will be able to maintain at least 10 hours of talk time, or internet
use, and will last up to 240 hours in standby mode.
Q: Which smartphones will Yaliny Point support?
A: It
will support smartphones with Android 2.3.x+ and iOS 7.1+ from the beginning. We’ll continue updating it and making it compatible with other
smartphones as soon as possible.
Q: Can I use Yaliny Point as a backup battery for my smartphone?
A: Yes,
our devices will have this feature.
