SUMMARY
So I was on set one day chatting with the cast and crew, and one of the wardrobe gals says, "I've been Ma'amed." I was like, that's funny! And so "You Got Ma'amed" was born. What started as an idea for a short viral skit has settled in as a 10 minute comedy short exploring the divide between women and men, how we feel about each other and themselves. A funny take on a woman's psyche after she is referred to that dreaded Four Letter Word All Women Hate.

With the necessary funding, we will be able to feed our cast and crew. But even more importantly, we will be able to enhance the qualify of our production from the right equipment (filming, sound, editing) to the experienced professionals (actors and crew). We know what we need to make this film great - we just need the funds to help us do it! Once the film is made, there is still work to be done. Post-production, funding allows us to bring our film to major film festivals (there's submission fees for each festival) and promote the film nationally. This funny story already has legs to stand on -- funding will give our comedy short a running start and bright future.
What We Need & What You Get
We are currently asking for $9600. This will help us meet the production budget as well as the post-production costs of editing and color grading, which makes it look and sound great. Once the film is finished, it's time to get it out there. Film Festival Entry Fees can add up quickly. Each film festival submission is around $30 (and up)...we are aiming for a reasonable 50 submissions. It all adds up.
Supporting independent film-making brings a certain satisfaction in supporting The Arts.
Supporting this film brings cool perks.
Perks: Whether you donate $10 or $1000 (or something in between) ... we think you deserve a perk. Get an Official "You Got Ma'amed T-Shirt" or film poster! How about a cast photo or a signed copy of the script? Want to be more involved in the process -- Then join us for lunch on the set! And let's not forget a credit in the film! Check out all the perk opportunities.
If we don't reach our goal, any funds raised will go directly toward production costs. Any additional funding will be go toward post-production cost and film festival submissions. Choices will be made along the way on ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality.
We may be low on budget but we are not low on talent or energy with our cast and crew.
The Impact
This story is funny and most people could use a good laugh, especially in today's climate. This story is also insightful; it's a humorous take on the sensitive issues of aging and insecurity.
My first short film "The Lavatory" was an Official Selection of the following: The Arizona International Film Festival, The Gangrene Film Festival of Comedy, The 15-Minutes of Fame Film Festival, The Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, The New York Shoot Out II, and the Cherry Hill Jewish Film Festival. My Viral video "What Does Your Mom Say?" a Parody of "The Fox Song" has almost 600,000 hits on Youtube.
Risks & Challenges
Making films is time intensive, financially challenging, and just plain hard. Those that have been supportive are helping this project fly with their time, generosity, and skills. Many talented people are working at reduced rates or even volunteering. Professionals, Family, Friends - it takes everyone. Many have already stepped up to help, but there is always more needed. We are fortunate to have so much support and know we can make this happen, even if it rains!
