HEY!
My name is Haley Carpenter and I have had the dream of being a YouTuber for a few years now. YouTube has blown up as a social media platform over the past few years, and many dedicated, charismatic vloggers have found their calling contributing. It has been a dream of mine to become one of these video bloggers, so to start and develop a channel that could allow me to grow creatively and personally while potentially reaching out to viewers across the world!
There are many kinds of YouTube channels; some that focus on beauty and make up, others that are comedy based, regardless passion and personality is what makes or breaks a successful channel. I feel as though my personality, would really shine on this site and that I could develop a space where I could truly be myself and potentially draw in an audience.
I tried filming a few videos on my webcam. I edited them nicely and was very satisfied with the content, however the quality of the images were embarrassing. Since I have been so passionate about this opportunity, I wanted to make sure I was releasing content that I was proud of, that i wanted the world to see to I realized that I needed a few things before diving back into it. Ideally I will be uploading content thats both fun and comedic as well as style and beauty related, but I know that there are a few key aspects of successful video blogging that i cannot achieve on my own.
What I Need
Basically I am campaigning to build a YouTube starter kit, a collection of items that would make it more likely for my channel to get views, likes, and subscribers! Obviously I want to keep my channel light hearted and fun, but at the end of the day video quality speaks volumes.
My goal of 1,000 dollars goes directly to:
-A high quality camera: One of the basic keys to success on YouTube (according to successful vloggers) is quality. Quality in content and the quality of the video technically. The ones i have looked at range from 400-600 dollars and would provide me with the ability to shoot and produce high quality videos that I am proud of.
-Lighting: Umbrella lights that mimic natural sun light when you don't have the luxury of siting under a window is another must according to many YouTubers out there. Because video quality is so important to me, investing in appropriate lighting seems valuable. The lights that i have looked into are about 200 dollars.
-Tripod: A steady tripod to allow for eye level filming is another item i hope to include in my kit. This will help the videos look professional, something else that really helps with subscribers.
-Video background/bits and bobs: The remainder of the money will go to littler items that could help add to or maintain my backdrop for my videos, again to help give a more professional air to the quality of them. These funds will also go into any cables or cords that may be needed or any other fees that pop up.
The Impact
This starter kit would help me jumpstart my channel. It would give me a chance to pour my passion into something that i am really motivated towards. It would give me personally a creative outlet, while hopefully effecting an audience positively as well. I want to grow though this, learn how to market myself and how to interact with others via social networks like this and maybe grow into an advocate for certain causes.
Many YouTubers have millions of subscribers all over the world and eventually I hope to have an audience globally. I want my channel to be place where I work hard to develop content that can potentially reach other people. I want to be able to speak up for and against things that I do or don't believe in. Specifically taking a stand against bullying and spreading awareness and acceptance of anxiety disorders. I hope to have the chance to work with charity organizations like many of my favorite Vloggers to help others and move causes forward.
Risks & Challenges
Having a large scale audience on YouTube doesn't happen overnight, and for some people doesnt happen at all. I know for a fact that it will take quite a lot of work, a decent amount of time and marketing for my channel to pick up speed. However with your help, creating this starter kit, i am confident that i will eventually make my dream a reality.
Other Ways You Can Help
I know Im reaching fairly high with a 1000 dollar goal, and sometimes there is just no way to contribute financially regardless of how much you may support a cause! I totally understand and just wanted to remind you that once i establish my channel and my online presence, getting the word out is going to be equally as important!
