Introducing ZANNA REDUX
ZANNA REDUX, a musical written by Tim Acito, takes place in Heartsville, USA, a wholesome Midwestern town known for its civic pride, good old-fashioned family values… and all-gay population. When two high school seniors are discovered to be secretly heterosexual, the town is thrown into chaos, hearts are broken, and everyone is forced to confront the biggest questions of today – What do I stand for? What is America? And will this magic wand clash with my prom dress?
Thoroughly ironic and shamelessly sincere, this big-hearted fable mixes pop, rock, funk and techno to remind us that finding ourselves requires remembering those we’ve left out.
The show is a modern version of Acito's original work, ZANNA DON'T, which debuted off-Broadway in 2002. The show went on to be performed off-West End and internationally.
Who We Are & What We're Doing
We're bringing ZANNA REDUX to life with an updated script and new songs.
We are a nonprofit, called The Broadway Dreams Foundation, that provides unparalleled access, mentorship and opportunity to students of all ages and backgrounds looking to fulfill their dream of making it to Broadway. Our alumni can be seen performing on stages internationally, including on and off Broadway.
Our reprisal and update of ZANNA REDUX will be fully cast from students and alumni of The Broadway Dreams Foundation from an array of ethnic backgrounds, in order to give our students yet another incredible shot at fulfilling their dreams and the opportunity to learn from workshopping a professional musical first hand.
Every summer, we host week-long intensives across the country and allow local students to learn from Broadway stars, coaches, directors, choreographers and talent agents. This year, we're looking to bring the creators of ZANNA REDUX on our summer intensive tour with us to New York City, Toronto and Philadelphia in order to provide even greater opportunity to even more students. We'll workshop throughout the summer and fall, and potentially bring our show to Broadway!

The Impact
Your support will help our creative team and The Broadway Dreams Foundation to workshop new material for this very special show, and hopefully bring it to a Broadway stage. You'll also be creating an invaluable educational and creative experience for aspiring students from all socioeconomic backgrounds across the country.
We're producing ZANNA REDUX because we believe in the project and the message that it bring to the table -- for students and audiences alike. Our organization believes in bringing unparalleled educational and creative opportunities to students so that they can live out their dreams. The musical promotes acceptance and the ability for individuals to live their own truth and fulfill their dreams. It's a message that we expect to leave a lasting impression on audiences.
For our team, it's important to remind audiences that our culture has taken tremendous steps toward equal rights and awareness of differences. However, there is still a long way to go!
Our creative team is tried and tested in the Broadway community and our Broadway Dreams Foundation alumni have found incredible success on Broadway stages. We're confident in this project and it's track for success. We hope you'll join us!
Challenges
The most significant challenge for our creative team has been to make sure that the piece is entertaining and enjoyable, in order for it to resonate with the younger demographic. If it isn't that, it's not going to teach any of the lessons that we hope to instill!
