• Built Tough. ZiPAC is designed to keep your coveted possessions safe while protecting your cable. The cable is covered in a durable, nylon weave material eliminating knots and broken cores. The zipper is constructed of a non-scratching, thick plastic for years of zipping and unzipping.

The ZiPAC Story

Remember zipping your jacket or pencil case up and down when you were a kid? It was like magic the way those teeth stayed together. That seemingly magical experience is what inspired us to create ZiPAC. So we took the fun of a zipper and applied it to your charging cable. Just like a zipper kept your pens and pencils safe and secure, the ZiPAC protects your cable and other items. No more tangled up wires and always asking, “Where’s my cable?” ZiPAC is the fun, functional way of reminding us of simpler times.

 

Our idea for ZiPAC was simple: combine a zipper and a cable. But the implementation wasn’t quite as easy as we imagined. Combining the different materials together with electronic cabling and making it mass producible proved to be the biggest challenge. In the development stage, we tried a variety of integration methods and created a number of models. None delivered the durability and cost-effectiveness we were needed. After 18 Months, we finally arrived at the ZiPAC you see today and we couldn’t be happier. 

In the early of this year,  we propose ZiPAC in Kickstarter first time, but we fail to get enough backers, because a lot of people worry about we couldn't get apple's certification. Now, after a long-term efforts and negotiations, we finally got the certification.

The ZiPAC team is a group of creative and innovative pros from across product design and IT. We’ve been at this for a while and the industry has recognized our quality. We won the Red Dot Product Design Award in 2008 and 2010 with Baroque Lighting System and LED Lamp (http://www.pinterest.com/justy5566/baroque-light/). Combined we have 15 years of experience in product development, model design, production management and computer electronics. We so proud of the ZiPAC and we know you’ll love it.

Manufacturing : Quality

Our goal is always to build the best quality product possible. We don’t believe in shortcuts. When we kicked off the project earlier this year, we started by establishing relationships with reliable manufacturers known for high quality cables and zippers. They worked with us side-by-side from concept to mockup samples. They are as eager to produce ZiPAC as we are.

 

Before reaching out to the community, we completed the following steps with our manufacturers:

• Spec - Finalize product spec sheets.
• Tooling - Complete tooling and molding.
• Testing - Verify charging capabilities and safety testing.
• Trial Run - Executed a trial run to ensure a successful process and production flow.
• Lead Time - Confirm production timeline, lead time and minimum order requirements.
• Cost - Evaluated and finalized costs of all parts.
• Certification - Apple MFi certification.
• Sample - Produced and inspected final working samples.

Risks & Challenges
