We are a group of independent developers that are looking to gain experience while creating games and working on projects that we've developed a passion for. This project truly is a dream come true as it based off one of our most beloved mods that has been around for over a decade. Among us you can find Sleggie (Project Leader) and Hoobalugalar; the lead programmer and creator of the very successful free-to-play game Codename CURE.

Zombie Escape is a free-to-play multiplayer game based off the popular Counter-Strike community-created gamemode, with an RPG twist. The core of the game involves escaping the zombie team as humans in a player-versus-player fashion. Zombie Escape is designed to be played with a large number of people - we're talking about 20-50 players altogether. This makes for a fun, social and fast-paced gameplay environment.  As a zombie, your goal is to infect the humans in order to stop them from reaching the end of the level.

We plan on integrating a leveling system into the game while ensuring that gameplay will be balanced for newcomers and experienced players alike.

Unlike many other zombie games, being a zombie is actually just as fun as being a human. Like in the Counter-Strike version, once a zombie injures a human, they are automatically infected and can continue infecting everyone around them as a zombie theirself. Humans can defend themselves from zombies by shooting them which both damages and knocks them back. If a zombie takes too much damage, they will die and respawn near a teammate. We really are aiming for a simple, arcade feeling.

So far in our development, we have managed to create an infection system, a round system and human class system. In addition to that, we have balanced the current weapons and have made a tested the game multiple times to ensure it looks and feels the way we expected it to at this point in our development.
 
 Q: Why not play the original Zombie Escape mod?
A: Zombie Escape offers a plethora of new weapons and items that the original mod could not support! Zombie Escape will feature regular client updates that will introduce an immense arsenal of weaponry to players. Zombie Escape will also feature an experience-based level-up system. The game is also free! In conclusion, the standalone version of Zombie Escape will open the gates to create a much more immersive and unique Zombie experience!
 
At the time that this fundraiser has been published, we've been working on an official map (Highway), our HUD/GUI, more awesome music, zombie classes, more models (which are coming very soon) and are looking into developing a weapon unlocking system. Those are our current priorities.
 
What we plan to do afterwards is improve what has been already created, improve the engine, add more weapons and take in all the feedback we've gotten to truly make this the project of our dreams. 
 
 
 
The game will be available on Steam (if Greenlit, of course) and will be running on the Source engine.
 

To some, this might be a turn off, but who cares? It's addictive! And trust me when I say this. If any of you Team Fortress 2 players remember how the game was back in 2007 and 2008, you were awarded for playing the game with a variety of uniqu item drops. That's exactly what we're planning on doing here, minus the obnoxious crate and key system similar games are using today. The only way you can get the special non-cosmetic items are by playing, which means that everyone is equal in their chances, and nobody has an advantage over anybody else. This also means that there is a point to both playing and winning! 
As of now, the inventory system is designed to be divided into six categories: primary weapon, secondary weapon, melee, grenade and ability.
As for the zombies, they are able to pick through different classes. These such classes are planned to be: leaper, runner and tank, with their own rank-up system based off of a player's experience points (XP), featuring a robust customization system behind that.

 

The game will be 100% free to play. This means no microtransactions or "premium" content.

 

In addition to the above, the game is based around general updates. We plan to continue to support the game after release, which will include new weapons, perks, abilities, maps and so on. This keeps users motivated and keeps the game even more fresh and unique. There really isn't an end! 

 

Don't you hate it when games don't allow you to create your own servers? Well that's definitely not the case here. We'll offer all the tools users will need and try our best to support community servers.  We also have our official forums where we can help modders, players and server owners. In addition to that, we have been showcasing our developments and directly talking to the community via our Twitch streams every week. We plan to keep doing so. In addition to that, if you would like to join the team or help us out even more, you can definitely contact us via Steam or the forums once again. 

 
 

This fundraiser will last 60 days. That's 60 days that we'll be updating this page in order to include more information as time goes on. If you don't entirely like what you see, but do fancy the idea, feel free to contact us and let us know what you think. The money will go towards licences, official servers, supporting the developers and quite a few other important expenses.

If we reach our goal of 5000$, we will include another gamemode on release: Survival (by popular demand). In this gamemode, you must beat the clock in a constrained environment surrounded by player-controlled zombies. You can either try to avoid them or build barricades to stay alive.
