Intercultural Theater and Film
Direct Arts is a new intercultural company, dedicated to producing plays and films that explore the intersection between different cultures. Founded by award-winning writer/director/actor Victoria Linchong, Direct Arts first stepped out into the world in 2007 at P.S. 122 with a short play commissioned by NY Theatre Review and has won Best of the San Francisco Fringe for their multimedia production of Genny Lim's play PAPER ANGELS featuring Obie Award winner Jojo Gonzalez. Currently, Direct Arts flagship program is Take Two, a monthly double bill of theater and film, which pairs a short film with a reading of a play, both exploring similar sociopolitical terrain. Direct Arts has received awards from NYC Council on the Arts, the Asian American Arts Alliance, Puffin Foundation and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council for its work.
