It's a simple playful tool made from responsibly sourced hardwood and cotton which can make that special milestone of learning to walk even more joyful.
The independence and freedom that come with using a Willa Walker makes babies REALLY happy.
As most of us parents have experienced, having a small child can be a pain in you back! When babies first start learning to walk its wonderful to hold their hands and experience those first steps. What nobody tells us is that "moment" of learning to walk lasts a long time! The Willa Walker helps ease the pain associated with bending over and lets you enjoy your little ones wandering on two feet.
It fits in a purse, diaper bag, backpack, or even a pocket. It’s a great accessory for traveling with a toddler. To use it, you just let your little one grab on and start walking.
Willa Walker is perfect for new parents who are adventure-inclined. Willa Walker is not only a great way to relieve your back while your child learns to walk, it's a great way to give a toddler more freedom to discover the world with you. The Willa Walker makes it easy for them to tackle tough terrain.

Earth First
Planting Trees, Protecting Oceans
We are committed to following a "earth friendly" business model, so that each Willa Walker you buy will give back to the earth more than it takes
We’ve built partnerships with makers and charities that hold these same values. We are recycling scraps of wood from a sustainable furniture company and we have two amazing environmental partners, Eden Reforestation Projects and the Lonely Whale Foundation. For every Willa Walker sold, we plant ten trees and contribute to educating kids about the importance of our oceans.

Do Good, One Step at a Time.
As (new) fathers, we want to do our part in creating a better future for our children. This is why we are joining the quiet revolution of conscious makers who are working outside modern manufacturing channels – seeking sustainable materials, processes, and practices. We have built partnerships with makers and charities that hold these same values.
Good Wood
On the production end, we do everything we can do to minimize our “footprint” while helping babies start to make them. The wood for Willa Walkers is sourced from Masaya & Company. Masaya uses small pieces of sustainably sourced tropical hardwoods left over from their production process. Masaya manages and operates tree plantations — helping to create jobs and return damaged land to its natural state.

It Takes a Village
Woodworkers
Masaya & Company is the name behind the hard working team in Nicaragua that takes the scraps from beautiful furniture to make our Willa Walkers. They're ethical, smart, and skilled; but above all they're good people.

Before we found Masaya, Gregg at Gemin Fabrication in Oakland, California made our prototypes and first production parts. He got us going and that's his specialty.
Gregg, happy to have finished up the first Willa Walker production run.
A Seamstress
A friend of ours introduced us to Susan Stark and she has sewn every strap to every ring in her yurt in Tam Valley, California. She's the sweetest person you'll ever meet.

Video Team
We couldn't have made this awesome Indiegogo video on our own. Plus M Productions is responsible for that. Next time you need to show the world something, call them first.

Safety
We use heavy duty flat cotton webbing for the rope. We don't recommend ever lifting a baby off the ground with a Willa Walker but, just in case, we've tested the strength and Willa Walkers can handle up to 50 pounds. Willa Walkers meet all Consumer Products Safety Commission standards.

The handles and rings are hand-sanded to a super fine finish to ensure the softest touch for both you and your baby. And, just in case your baby decides to act like a baby and chew on the Willa Walker, we finish them with organic, food-grade coconut oil.
Why This Campaign?
We're crowdsourcing capital on Indiegogo to expand our business sustainably, purchase a laser engraver, and complete the patent process.
We want to move the production out of our garages and pay a generous wage to the folks who make them.
Having a laser engraver in-house will allow us to offer customized designs without having to ship them to and from a remote location and it helps us to generate more revenue for our environmental partners.
We know that our idea is really simple and one of the downsides to that is that as soon as we get a little momentum, someone can come along and start making them out of plastic. So - we want to complete our patent and do our small part to keep things green.
