I guess you could say I'm an omnivore that devours design, media, branding and technology. It is a sickness. Ask my hubby.

The story of ShopSuey begins for me when I was about 6 years old. Since we didn't have money when I was growing up, my mom would let me design my own clothes and she would sew them. She sewed all of our clothes, except for my dad's because he had to buy clothes for work. I loved selecting the fabrics, buttons, and overseeing all the details. The best part was when people would ask me where I got what I was wearing. I never had Jordache jeans or whatever the "it" item of the moment was, but I found my own style and made fifteen dollars of fabric look like a million bucks. That's when I learned that style isn't about a label or price tag, it's what YOU make it. Not everyone has to be a fan, as long as you own the look and feel comfortable in your own skin.

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with Honors at the beginning of the dotcom era, I fell in love with the internet and spent most of my career in e-commerce strategy, branding, user experience and development. Of course, I eventually moved out to the epicenter of the dotcom boom and found my true calling on the West Coast. While working at a startup called Reflect.com, I met the man of my dreams, who turned out to be a Norwegian surfer from Venice Beach that I was introduced to by a sorority sister during a weekend trip to LA. He asked me to quit my job and move to Norway after we had been dating for a year, and I said I'd see him in a month, which shocked none of my f amily or friends. Since traditional was not our thing, we got married on the island of Mallorca and had our reception at a farm from the 1500s with family and friends from all over the globe.

We decided it was time to head back to the States and put down roots in the suburbs of DC, after spending nearly three years living in Oslo. I decided that it was a perfect time to layer on the stress after having my first son so I opened my own design firm, Good Egg Design, which was one of the best decisions of my career. In 2009, I decided to bring ShopSuey to life and am looking forward to sharing the experience with you.
